While older Scouts and their leaders enlisted in the Armed Forces as the conflict progressed, younger Scouts diversified their tasks, with a notable contribution being their crucial support to the Coastguard. Tasked with watching the coast, ports, and estuaries to counter the threat of a German invasion, Scouts, under the supervision of the coastguard but led by their Patrol Leaders, demonstrated independence by undertaking activities such as coast watching, signalling, and message delivery. Additionally, Scouts volunteered for farm work, filling the labour gap left by men who had joined the Armed Forces. The messenger boy role, vital in an era with limited telecommunications, saw Scouts stationed at key locations for urgent message delivery due to their health, strength, reliability, and sense of direction. The Scouts' multifaceted contributions showcased their adaptability and resourcefulness during this challenging period. Thanks Chat GPT!

Genuine story. In early 2000 Young woman in Nelson with two small children, just before Christmas husband dropped dead a work. He was the only wage earner. Woman went to Nelson Council for help and advice. Council would not help without confirmation of death (ie certificate) Guy was bearly cold so no certificate available for weeks - therefore no help from council. Lady in reception gave lady a leaflet for local mosque where help was waiting. Lady left with foodbank voucher, pathway to fastrack support, and £2k in her hand. If you hit hard times, head for the mosque. ps had to delete the post referring to 1514mification of the UK...

due to demographic change = So why didn't UK local people have more Caucasian babies? for best part of 30 years = more like 50 years as of 2024, Nelson was full of fabrication, the government damaged it, that as finished and so does Nelson. Bring the factories back and Nelson will be great again. pendle rise = nope, it was better before they "touched it" in 1967 before it was much better and old stone buildings of Nelson, those buildings today would cost a fortune, but the local council wanted "change". some of damage has been done by supermarkets = Yes the supermarket as totally damaged Nelson, but now those supermarkets are going under, thank god, this shows there is a change in paradigm. Because Nelson needs a clear small businesses as it used to be before 50 years ago. more we have diversified = you mean taking over I wonder how many women go to the Mosques in Nelson? They to the prayer because they want to make non Muslims feel "uncomfortable" so that they will leave and sell the asset. But remember what JD Vance said about the UK and its nuclear Arsenal, they would not allow the UK have nuclear capabilities if they turn into an Islamic state. Things are changing.

@@kdlofty Its the truth. If you looked at Nelson in 1903 many people went to Church there are many photos of this of Nelson. they worked in the factory and went to church and it was booming with life and energy. So what happened? If you look in the old newspaper of Nelson it was boom town and yes the newspaper talked about about Christian values unlike the godless government of the UK today.
@yoyuepz2 ай бұрын
@@therespectedlex9794 I have purchased a book about Lancashire during the turn of 19 century. People were smiling and happy, cancer rates were low (organic foods). Less government bureaucrats telling you what to do. They had large protests against wars in 1919, as they understood the government just wanted to kill young naive Christian men. The men and woman in the photos were slim and not fat, people were healthy, they were working and unemployment was low, thy exported over 200 thousand tons of cloth all over the world in 1903 at just one train station. So were they that grim? And they went to church every Sunday. I also looked deeper into statistics. During 1916, 85% of the UK people were Christians. However after 1919 that changed, more atheists, why? (world war) 20 years later there was another world war. And many Christians again died, there seems to be a plan here about killing young Christian Caucasian men. After this war the trend again more atheists and a rejection of Christian values. I think myself, most of the Alpha males died during these two major wars in Europe and it totally damaged the UK Christian ethos. It is clear a plan to destroy Christian values from the west and there is over 50% of the UK people are atheists. I think this is due to these two wars. And in 1948, there was the British Nationality Act 1948. This is where the commonwealth countries were allowed to enter the UK freely, after the 1945 second war. So one has to question was this done by design to kill many Christian alpha males in the UK and then import people from other countries to use divide and conquer methods (something the romans did)? Or did it just a consequence?

It would be great if Charlie sometimes reached out to a local to get a bit of a 'how it was' narration. I grew up near here which meant that in the late 80's early 90's it was mum and dad shopping day. It was thriving. Packed out Arndale (extended Pendle Rise), Woolies across (Pound Grow), Butchers, Grocers, Great indoor market, Majorca cafe for meat pie and chips, busy train and bus station, Star club busy over 2 floors, beautiful St Mary's church and....(back in the 60's the Imperial Ballroom who had the Beatles, Stones, every single major act except Elvis Presley)............and then..........well we all know what then...

The indoor market downstairs was great to have a look around. Buying toys from there was the highlight of my week as a young one. Used to help mum with the shopping until I was a teen and then it was a place to go and buy the latest singles either from Our Price or Woolies. The Grand cinema was great too as a Kid. Used to be a good afternoon out. I remember going to watch films on my own and making friends, sharing popcorn. I had some great times there but sadly it’s just one big dump. We all know why and I only come back to visit my parents once a year and that’s enough. All the Victorian buildings that are now just left to rot and our once great churches being overtaken. So sad..

Mainly because those I speak to who haven't been to England (especially my American clients) seem to think as a whole, England is permanently sun-soaked, beautiful and full of hope like Darling Buds of May, Hogwarts or Downton Abbey, and by association, they too think I am perhaps something that I am not? ... Brilliant stuff Charlie. Your style is totally different. Honest and funny. You deserve more publicity and acclaim for your photojournalism and wit and courage. Exposing a hypocrite or two does tickle me. How do you know when a Hamas "diplomat" is lying ? because he can't spell word or honour.

Isn't that the town born out of a pub, where CLR James batted and bowled for Marxism, while Engels had one foot in the mill door, until Fred toppled all the chimneys, stopping them from smoking?

Not to mention Oddies Bakery, where the Clitheroe Kid couldn't make enough dough; Clark's Ironmongers behind the library, since 1849. And for those who think it's rather common to smell of ourselves, try some Black Narcissus, a scent once sold in all the Army & Navy stores in London and still available at Boyces, where he walked right past without even a mention.

Nelson - the shit tip of East Lancashire. Wouldn't pass through it if the surrounding areas were on fire. Absolute squalid sick bucket of a place. I grew up there and will NEVER return for as long as I live.

Used to be a decent town but in the last 15/20 years its died ,White flite is rampant .Put your house up for sale its odds on Asians will want to buy it .And the day before your due to exchange contracts you will get a knock on the door the people who were going to buy the house it will be short of money and you will have to drop the price or no sale. It happened to a friend of mine they thought of moving 5 years ago and they could have got more for there house then they have now and have had the house fully double glazed and paid a mortgage for those 5 years ,

Sh1t I'm due to live outside of a depressing Lancashire 'City' similar to this town where there is white flight in the satellite villages; I am dreading it but where else can you go; most UK cities are not really that great in the center to live and I just don't know.

Nelson wasn't that bad when I was growing up in the 1960s. Many Lancashire towns (especially East Lancashire) started to rapidly go downhill with the demise and ultimate end of the Lancashire cotton industry, and they have never recovered. Manchester (which used to be a part of Lancashire) had at one time the nickname of Cottonopolis and was the metropolis centre of the cotton industry. Sadly, some parts of Lancashire consist of dirty and scruffy looking ghost towns. Pendle Council have plans to demolish the shopping centre, and to revamp the town centre (which ought to have been done many years ago) but I'm not sure that any remodelling etc., of the town centre will improve things.

I grew up near Nelson, there is no Jesus Christ there and this is what happens to pockets of our country when people turn away from our Lord and saviour. Take notes Christian country if we abandon our faith. Christ is King
