The median age of the people who comment here is 20's I think. People who are little older often would not have the nerve to be so critical (and sometimes downright mean) when they hadn't even design-built a tiny house themselves. Maybe "I hate mean people" is no longer a thing. Is this what we've come to in our culture? This is a great house. Celebrate the positive!

It’s actually a very well written and comprehensive book kzbin.infoUgkxhgbP-6hUnXu_QRaoHgLztgsI0YF3HqR0 . I wanted to pair this with an updated book on local codes to start planning a post-retirement dream shop. I think I have just about everything I need between the two. The extra plans available for purchase towards the end are priced almost as much as full home plans, not little sheds however.

As soon as I saw the house I knew I was going to like it and I was right! Very nice house. It did had the same inspiration as the last two houses like the winter wonderland and the family one with the kids bunk bed in which I like as well.

Hi Folks, We realize this house is on the big side of tiny but you gotta remember its for a family of four! That's about 100 sq ft per person. Don't know many people who are doing better than that. I'm certainly not! -Seth

People who are used to 20 foot ceilings, 4000 sq. ft. 3 or more bathrooms etc. will have to do some time relearning space. Funny to think that someone could try to imagine changing their paradigm from too much to just enough easily. This is a new way of looking at our environment and it is by far the best thing for all of us to be learning. This is all about making our footprint tiny. And it is very comfy. Takes time to get used to the entire idea.
@1badpete999
@1badpete999 5 жыл бұрын
People are not complaining about the idea and ecological footprint they are complaining about the lack of finishing skills seen in so many of these small homes with a finish off a oversize shed with a bit more windows with a serie of fastly assembled square boxy furniture not even sanded with sharp edges to get splinters off ! The idea of getting out off the grid is fantastic by itself solar panel and the works , but to a carpenter eyes or experience woodworker you can't disguise a shed finish into a small finely built small home for the same price !

Yes, exactly! I can't stand the people who live alone or as a couple in 300sq ft hating on families living in 500. People need to get a grip and be more accepting and inclusive. Apparently they're not in it for the right reasons and would rather these families just continue to live paycheck to paycheck largely in debt in their 3,000sq ft home (eye roll). Some people are so rude!

Love this, but one thing I'm concerned about would be an exit on both ends in case of fire. I watched one video where the house was designed by a fireman and he talked about how important it was to have exits, just in case. I'm wondering if another door could go in the other side?

Agreed where is the code for this. Even apartments have to have 2 exits. With the door at one end have to go thru entire house to escape. The fireman sees it through a different set of eyes thanks for pointing that out.

Yes! Easy to get trapped with no egress. Also, the fireplace being right beside the door means of there is an issue with it, the only decent sized way out would be nearest the fire..

Re the fold-down bed for the kids: Rather than use legs to support it, create angled shelves upon which the desk rests; and then, when it's folded down, the bed, too, can rest there. That negates any concern that the legs of the bed might be kicked out and makes for some useful storage space within an area of the room that is generally otherwise just wasted floorspace.

This is beautiful house! It is not a house that I would choose to live in, but I can see the beauty of it. You said that people were not living in it yet at the beginning the video. Then during the video you mentioned that people are not yet living in it. So some of the comments were thoughtless, because people just sometimes want to see things fully furnished. Then there were comments on what the clients wanted in their home set-up-wise and size-wise. The length of the video is given at the very beginning - so why complain about the time when you knew how much time it would take to watch the entire thing. Thank you for being able to put up with the negativity so that you can share something positively beautiful.

She's a beast for sure. Kind of similar to what I have in mind. I was considering getting a 30-40ft fifth-wheel trailer and building a "tiny home" (may not be tiny in the minds of those in the tiny house community, but according to local laws and code, it's still too tiny to be legal on a foundation). I was only considering maybe a single story, but seeing this, adding a second story/loft might actually be a nice addition. The issue I see is bad storms blowing it over if caught just right. Would have to integrate ways of strapping it down nice and tight for such storms. Also might be a real pain for whoever is moving it because I sure as heck am not going to tow it. Around 20K pounds is what I figured and I figured a three axle trailer would be needed. Of course, if I built my tiny house, I would be considering weight. The goal of my house is to have a custom built nice home that I can live in full time and not sacrifice space. My current home is 1000 square feet and that's just a bit too big for me, but is also the lower limit on house sizes for this area. A 36x8ft tiny home is only 288 square feet. If it's two stories, still under 600 square feet. It's still a tiny home. Of course, it's moving more towards a DIY manufactured home. I still have to go over the dimensions because another goal of my home is to be able to move it without needed any permits or permission. If I want to move, I want to be able to make a phone call and have a professional trucker come, pick it up, and take it to where I want it without getting the government involved every time. For this to happen, it has to fit within specific dimensions. If it goes over those dimensions, you have to get a permit (permission) every time you move it.
