Such assassination plot is quite intriguing, but since we know how its end well maybe the target should be strategic target to slow down the Heresy

Agreed, these types of books always start on a -1 for me in terms of enjoyment because you know it is hopeless. Some stories like A Thousand Sons still do such an amazing job at building up the story that you almost start to believe it will end differently than you know; However most stories fail to build up real suspense because of it. The Olynder book is another good example of this from Age of Sigmar.
