one thing that feels really bad when playing hwei is when your inputs get eaten by animations. like while youre casting one ability, you want to already prepare the next but sometimes these inputs get eaten up and then youre suddenly in the wrong spellbook cause your first button input got eaten and that just feels shit.

I don't feel that way, to me it feels like it just has a rhythm that you gotta get used to, to optimize the apm. If it eats my inputs I'm fine with it and see it as a human error, so long as it consistently does so. Kinda akin to a fighting game combo where mashing just won't work but timing it properly rewards you.

Idk if Midbeast commentated on it, but he uses WE on the last ticks of his QE to add burst at the end to help execute the minions. In addition his Q is coming up again at that point, so he gets another WE proc on his second QE. That looked so helpful to last hit and push.

After 20+ games on Hwei, you know the combo's and after another 20 you don't need to think too much anymore about using them. For example the E + Q is rlly good against dashers / gankers. And once you are there, you don't wanna play other images anymore because this champ is more fun and has more utility then other mages.

19:30 a lot of junglers also dont have the dps to clear camps past 20 minutes. Junglers are just able to move around the map faster while taking the camp. Fiddle is an example, he has a fast first clear but after that you realize he needs 3-4 ws for each camp. It is also part of the reason why brand and ivern are becoming popular because they have good mid-late game clear on top of a solid early game one.

Hwei is OP honestly, the problem is people haven't figured out how to play him to his potential yet. The fact that his tool kit provides him so many options is just insane. The reason his win % is so low is because unless you have a ton of games played to understand and memorize all the combos you are just smashing buttons hoping for the best. I like the idea but he is now by far the most complicated champion out there and the sheer amount of utility is going to make other units with only 4 abilities seem bad.

I think the problem with Hwei is the playerbase's mindset about the champion. From what I have observed, Hwei SHOULD always be played with a +1 or more. He is only maximized with teamfights. He isn't a 1v9 champion by design. I think Hwei could be a start in a paradigm shift in League's overall solo queue mindset of 10 people trying to 1v9 every game

Personally I feel like hwei is very rewarding to play and is very fun, but unlike azir he lacks the end game reward to carry. He’s more of a support or addition to a team comp I feel. Even if you land his kit perfectly, he still does less damage than most mid laners that are 10x easier. Mind you I’m mastery level 6 with hwei so I have experience. I still love to play him and do well at times but I can do better with other champs.
