I like going approach velocity on nasus and tahm kench top because it lets them run people down easier with the slows. Keeps from getting kited by speeding you up on your slows effectively slowing them even more

It does, but majority of people take Last Stand. Problem with Last Stand is that you're full HP a lot due to passive

Cut Down got reworked in patch 14.10 and no longer incentivises you to have low max hp yourself. It now increases your damage if the enemy you're hitting is above 50% hp and doesn't take your own max hp into consideration at all.

The reason is they dont have heavy cc to stop a nasus. Nasus is great in here too because he gets free lane vs zed and wrecks adc legs.

Nasus counters Zed because his passive gives a lot of sustain to deal with the poke and wither allows him to close to gap easily. Zeri is weak against Nasus for the same reasons. Elise has low movement speed and her stun/slow are low duration which allows Nasus to gap close with wither. Milo isn't too bad but they also can't carry so once the rest of the team is dead there isn't much Milo can do.
