[EN] Analysis and design of a steel hall with SCIA Engineer - Part II

In this second part of the webinar, we will demonstrate another way to design our steel hall: based on results from second-order analysis with initial imperfections. Important settings and aspects of the design will be discussed. The results from the two approaches will be compared in terms of material usage and difficulty in the workflows. Then, deflections will be evaluated using the serviceability check functionality; related workflows and settings will be explained.

I have one question? How we will decided if we have Sway or Non- Sway case ? For example when I made Stability load combinations and put in the analysis - Number of buckling node (20), in result I have got first 5 modes (ULS/1 =3,65 ; ULS/2= 5,81 ; ULS/3=6,04 ....ULS/20=29,07) are less then 10 and rest are all more then 10 (I have seen similar in your case ) . So how can I know, is it alpha,cr < 10 or alpha,cr >10 ? This will decided which approach we will have 1st order analysis or 2nd order analysis...
