Yes, these guys are legendary along with Santana Tower of power, Jimmy Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jerry Garcia, and the Grateful Dead journey, Boz Scaggs, Larry Graham and Graham Central Station. We had some good music no doubt come Sly and Family Stone too and Johnny Mathis Metallica The Tubes theGreg Kenn Band Con Funk Shun as well Steve’s Miller spent time in our area too ! We used to rock it in the mission District on Saturdays and Sundays with the cruising and sometimes Saturday nights and Friday nights and then we also did the Golden Gate Park with skating as well as ocean Beach and Halloween. Let’s not forget that Mission high school bears Washington high school Eagles !

In the early 1970's there was a new genre of music called Jazz-rock by groups like Malo and Chase. The usual guitars, keyboards and drums with a healthy dose of HORNS. Nena sends jazz-rock over the top with the horn interlude featuring the trumpet, trombone and flugelhorn. Nena is an excellent example of jazz-rock with a Latin infusion. I wish I was there for this performance, absolutely stellar.

This is fantastic! Love the drumming at the start, easy to see how tight these guys all have stayed through the years... So much fun, mucho charisma & connection among them: they really know how to put on a show! I'm grinning, infectious so you just gotta move :) Bless You, Santana, for your gifts to the world. Many thanks for posting!

We love being a part of the Latin Rock world. Jorge Santana became a friend in 2016 when we met at the Latin Music Hall of Fame Awards. We were discussing do a show with Jorge, Tito Puente Jr, and us, Rico Monaco Band. It did not come about but we had a great time working on it for a few months. He was a cool dude and talented musician. Rest In Peace Jorge. We are happy to be continuing our unique fusion of Rock and Latin music. We do our own shows and also do shows with Tito Puente Jr as our guest. We invite any interested bands, musicians or fans to check us out! Cheers to Malo!

We thank you all for viewing this wonderful performance we did in the middle of the San Francisco Mission District where it all began. Suavecito was rehearsed just around that corner from here when Richard Bean first wrote it. Come see Richard Bean and Tony Menjivar's MALO live this Saturday, December 28th in San Jose at Tiki Pete's for the last weekend of 2019.

So many memories. Believe it or not I was introduced to Malo in the 90s by a British husband who lived on the border of Scotland! I was blown away as I consider myself a performer and somewhat of a musical connoisseur of all genres from Opera to Hip-hop you guys trump it all. This music does not have a color it has a Feeling... that feeling is love. Thank you for allowing me to experience this joyful fusion of your souls and your culture. Looking forward to hearing what's next. Keep inspiring my Brothers. The Black Fairy of New England
