When my friends amd i go out, we choose a place suitable for everyone's pocket. The money discussion is done way before the date even happens to avoid that kind of drama. If one of is doesn't have money but we still want her to come, she just has to make sure she's got enough for her ride home and the rest pick up her bill. It's a group of 3 friends. Small group of friends is easier to handle anyway

I got friends that get separate checks, or split it evenly if we ordered bunch and shared with everyone. But I don't hang around stingy people. If we do split the check, we do it by what we ordered, then split the tip equal. If you don't have money to spend, don't go out.

That is just plain rude , I always make it clear when I’m going out with my friends (I usually only go out to eat with one friend at a time anyway) but I always make it clear if we’re splitting it , if I’m paying for it , or if they’re paying for it (if I got it last time which you better believe I’d remind you) but to expect someone to pay for everyone’s meal is just so rude and if you were raised that way you were raised wrong

You can always tell the waiter upfront to ring up your order separately so that you have a separate cheque. This is the difference between being able to save a deposit for a house and staying renting. You gotta watch your pennies and cut your coat according to your size.

You know what you can do... when the food starts getting ordered... and the waiter ask "what will you be having today?" Just say, "oh this is on a separate ticket, by myself. Yes I will have the lobster, salmon, shrimp platter , with the unlimited cocktail, and wait I want dessert!" Then turn to your friends and be like, " ya'll I'm finna EAT and I don't want to put all of this on ya'll." I like taking turns to pay, some people are really good at keeping track of whose turn it is to pay and everything goes seamlessly, otherwise I like to split... a few years ago, I stopped working and went back to School, so my finances were really bad, I completely STOPPED social gatherings, going out for drinks etc... Now I am doing really good financially and I really don't like hanging out with broke friends who just assume you're gonna pay for their expensive meal. I feel like you should either refuse the invite or if you're close enough and comfortable, let people know beforehand that you can't afford it.

Omg lol I use to work with this lady that would go out with us and when we go pick up food her favorite line was, “I forgot my card at home or her husband took it out of her purse”. Every time a new person would start she would go to lunch w them until they all started figuring it out! I don’t mind paying some days but not ALL the damn time. My boss finally got mad at her and said “where’s your money” and she pretend to look in her bra and purse and said “it must’ve fell out.” My boss said “cancel her order”. I never seen my boss so mad. Any way you never know what people struggles are but I did in fact pay that day! She didn’t really miss work so she had a weekly paycheck but never know what she was doing w it. She didn’t have custody of 3of her kids so who knows! 🤷🏽‍♀️

I had stopped months prior to that (buying her food)I had to get out of that line of work I was a case worker and went to MGM Grand (civilized coworkers) much better environment. When I go out with my friends we all pay separately unless it's my friends birthday then I have his or her order added to my tap and well put in on the tip. If I'm feeling generous then I'll just pay for everybody but I won't let them know until the tab comes so they won't buy expensive stuff because I'm paying.
