I remember playing on a machine that was next to my house. I never went over 2 million points, but a friend from the neighborhood was a pleasure to watch because he almost always reached the end. I remember that near my institute there was also a place that had this machine and applied a trick that I learned. Right before the first big plane that took up the whole screen came out you had to do a loop and the game would crash. Then the owner of the place would return your money because he did not know about the trick.

The Battle of Midway got expanded in the 1943 and 1943改 arcade games, and even further with a "fixed" NES/Famicom port of 1943 called 1944.

It was November 30, 1984, and Yoshiki Okamoto conjured this arcade hit that would spawn a WWII-like franchise. Putting capcom on the map!

Better than the NES port in every way. They even let you know which island you're on, not to mention remind you that Stage 1 is the final one.

It's so strange to think this game was made only 42 years after the fact. Some WWII vets on both sides were still working-age at the time The "boss" at 46:50 is (I think) supposed to be a Nakajima G10N. This was a designed but never built Japanese concept for a strategic bomber that would've struck targets in North America. It would've had measurements close to a modern 747 (~150' long, 200'+ wingspan) and carried a substantial bomb load. Given the USA's own troubles with the B-29, it's easy to imagine the G10N would've been way beyond the limit's of Japan's technical know-how and material resources of the time.

1984 listening to early Slayer and Sodom and playing video games at the local arcade. Terminator came out and blew mine and my older brother's heads off.
I just scrolled to the ending to see if the ending of my NES game did in fact say GAME OVER like I lost even if I did everything to complete it. While it doesn't seem to be the same game, this one does tell you GAME OVER, too, but with much more fanfare like "congratulations, you lost! Buy our next game to lose even more and more spectacularly!!"

Nearly all of the budget for this game went into the gameplay and graphics. The only things they could afford for the music were a malfunctioning drum machine and a coach's whistle. 😄
@WonkyTonkBotty Жыл бұрын
It's even worse on the NES version. Instead of a repeated coach whistle, it's a repeated smoke alarm/heart ECG!

The only boss is a Nakajima G10N Mother Bomber, codename Fugaku. Renzan and Renzan ver.II (Nakajima G8N mother bombers) are smaller mother bombers, and the predecessors of Fugaku.
