The trouble with the old houses in Cyprus is that they are not earthquake proof, hence the cracks. Beautiful to see them though and let’s hope they don’t all disappear and get redeveloped. The cobbled streets are not original at all. It is EU money that has helped pay to have what was a Bitumen surface. Just the same with most of the churches. Which have been totally rebuilt from what was the original rendered and painted white, with blue painted doors and window frames, to a stone finish with new red terracotta tile roof.
