Any idea what voltage regulator is on 7:17 ? looks like BZ or 8Z? I need a replacement one for my unit to get it going again... struggling to find the part. I think its a SOT-89 , but exactly which im not sure... closest i got was something from JRC, NJM78L62UA

Hey do you just use isopropyl alcohol and cotton swabs to clean it?

Hey, have you ever come across a NGPC with a flickering/shaking display? I'm using an AC adaptor and l wonder if it might be a bad connection or something, but l'm not sure.

Shinobi Wolf I would honestly not be able to tell you. I think a good first step would be try try another power source indeed. See if it still happens on batteries :)

@@RetroGameRevival It does happen on batteries as well as an AC adaptor. The screen is glitching out, shaking/flickering, and producing horizontal lines that shouldn't be there, as well as freezing. It's not the game cartridge because I tried the same game on another system and it worked fine. I'm wondering if maybe something to do with the display is going bad?

freezing normally isn’t something caused by a bad screen connection I would say. This sounds like failing capacitors, I would start by replacing those!

Hi. Great video! I just bought a neo geo pocket color. It is not turning on by using batteries. What can it be? Can you recover? Help me, please. Thank you.

That could be anything actually. From dirt on the button (PCB) to caps or a faulty regulator. Did you make sure (like in my video) there's no corrosion on the battery leads?

Hello there do you do repair these on the side?
@RetroGameRevival5 жыл бұрын
You mean if I do paid repairs for other people? if so, I don't. I do this as a hobby in my spare time, I don't have the ambition currently to grow that into a company :)

I just bought one that has an issue where when you put the batteries in it just flashes the power light on and off. Which is supposedly what happens when the batteries have died. Probably a similar issue to yours, I’ll have to see when it gets here.

Jaimee Edwards good luck! make sure to inspect the battery springs, as you saw on mine, they’re often corroded and need a good clean :)

RetroGameRevival Only issue is it’s missing the battery covers 😒 ugh. So I’ll have to buy 3d printed ones. But the systems themselves are going up in price, cheapest I found was $80.
@RetroGameRevival5 жыл бұрын
seriously!? wow... I bought another one complete in box right after this video for 15$ shipped (also had some battery leak, but worked perfectly fine after cleaning)

I finally got it and cleaned it up. But it didn’t help, got some other issue. As soon as you put in the batteries it turns on with the blinking light and that static sound 🤷🏻♀️ Which means I’m gonna be stuck going through and trying to find out which resistor or capacitor has gone out. Which really sucks. We know that the power light blinks when there’s no cr32 battery. But does it blink when the AA batteries are weak. Because that would help me to narrow down the issue.

I honestly cant remember the specifics of the blinking light issues. I would start with new caps regardless, can never hurt to replace them! And from there measure voltages to see if any are wrong and track back from there. You can hit me up on twitter DM (@rawrDennis) to maybe compare those voltages against mine (which would be known working). Just wondering if there’s a fuse or a regulator that blows when people insert batteries the wrong way :/ Doesnt sound like the issue you have, but would be a good place to start I guess?
