Great course. Learned more in this one hour and 23 minute course than I was able to try on my own in a few days. One suggestion: you can use variables that are different than node names to illustrate two points: 1. Variable names CAN BE different than node names. 2. For simplicity, using a shorter variable name, e.g. P for PLAYER, T for TEAM, will shorten the rest of the codes. Thanks!

Thanks for the Crash Course mate 👍 Small mistake's: @40:40 Giannis doesn't match the 1. condition AND DOES NOT match the 2nd condition ether. The reason he is still shown in this result is bc you didn't actually run the updated/corrected query. You said it right the 1st time @40:30, but wrong the 2nd time @40:40. @41:10 You say you want to negate BOTH conditions, but if you only write the NOT before the first condition like: WHERE NOT (player.weight >= 120 OR player.height >= 2.15) it only negates the player.weight condition if you want to negate ALL, then use (): WHERE NOT ((player.weight >= 120 OR player.height >= 2.15)) In the 1st case we got 11 results including "name: Kristaps Porzingis" with his "height: 2.21" in the 2nd case we got 10 results excluding "name: Kristaps Porzingis". @1:19:52 he now actually has 4 different labels after adding REF ^^

@tangistanguy2 жыл бұрын
Please allow me a second thought: it is always confusing to name variables with a semantically significant word ("player", for example), as you are consequently putting a label on it that is exactly the same word ("Player"). If you put an ordinary variable name instead (c:Player, for instance), confusion is avoided between variable and label. Same for relations [a:PLAYS_FOR], stating that a is just an arbitrary name for the relationship, and could be anything. No offense intended :)
@nicolassantini56792 жыл бұрын
Everyone teaches that way and I have no clue why no one has figured this out. This gets crazy when they try to explain how to pass variables to a php object. Great teacher and video but like you say, the variable naming is very confusing
@tangistanguy2 жыл бұрын
@@nicolassantini5679 I agree with you !! I guess they all teach that way because they have no clue about what goes on in the mind of the learner ... and that's why they are not able to choose the right path ... Also, people who have been schooled in Computer Science have always seen it done that way and they can't figure out that its just wrong. The teacher here didn't even react to the comment, probably he thinks that he is doing it the right way 😅
@technoultimategaming29992 жыл бұрын
I agree with both of you. Yes it is important to give variables a meaningful name, but when you name it as player, you have no idea at first if you're passing in the label or variable
@tangistanguy2 жыл бұрын
@@technoultimategaming2999 Oh, i am sorry but I was just saying the contrary: its a mistake (or at least mistaking) to give a variable a meaningful name, moreover if it overlaps with the label name ... The guy who made the video certainly understands neo4j well, but as for teaching it ....
@olemew2 жыл бұрын
Im new to the language, but there seems to be a pretty obvious convention, user var names are lowecase and keywords as well as existing namespace should be referred in uppercase. something like c:Player makes it less readable, as c has no meaning, but maybe a middle ground could be: p:PLAYER my_player:PLAYER

Hi, you can create more than two relationships of the same type, and add in each relationship a timestamp property.
