MGS2 was way ahead of it's time, and in my opinion still is. This game didn't age at all. Graphics may be dated, but physics, AI, interactivity, Area of exloration and plot are top notch.

Agreed I played and finished it for my first time a couple days ago and it's honestly much better than some games that come out nowadays. My only complaint would have to be how fun it was to play as Snake at the beginning and then be forced to play as Raiden the rest of the game :\

My favorite one out if all of them beat them all but Sons of liberty is a Master piece I couldn't believe how this game betrayed us by giving us Raiden at the end the betrayal was worth it I would of liked to play as snake the whole game.

Diligence, competency, and know the limitation of the PS2 makes for gameplay that will never age. Even now, MGS2 has more attention to detail than modern AAA games.

​@@stargateheaven23i think it didn't begin as a MGS (5 that is). But Konami pushed Kojima to turn it into it, instead of a new IP. Probably part of the creative differences that caused the fallout between Kojima and Konami.

If you don't like this game because you don't play Solid Snake through the whole game you're NOT a Metal Gear Solid fan . I played the Hell out of this game and had a blast . To me this was 9/11 therapy . There was so much 9/11 propaganda , I could just turn my PS2 on and get away from reality .This game also proved how much better the PS2 was compared to the red ring Xbox . My first Xbox lasted only a month , my first PS2 lasted 3 YEARS before I replaced it .

I remember back then when a game came out, it was something we haven't seen before. Now we have become used to HD graphics and refined gameplay controls. Hard to believe until 2005 at last resident evil 4 got shoulder mounted camera perfected for 3rd person shooters.

I remember that part in the Big Shell, where Vamp appeared and killed the SEALS, Pliskin was the only one left. Kojima really wanted us to believe that he wasn't just Snake in a combat suit and no bandana, I was glad when Kojima realised that and dropped the Pliskin angle in a unexpected way to return as the badass we know him as.

No, it's nothing to do with gender ideology. Raiden was designed to be androgynous in order to be visually appealing to young women who found femboys more attractive than Snake.
