As a pianist I disagree. I appreciate this music and anime piano pieces but technically they are very different than music played at formal events. Those with an ear for it would likely be able to realize the difference. But it would be cool to hear this piece at an event though

@@doryu1491 Actually, most music that people consider 'anime music' is jpop. Jpop is an incredibly vast genre that incorporates musical ideas from so many different places, one really wouldn't be able to classify any odd jpop song very easily, except in maybe some cases, due to the obvious things like language and instruments used. In the case of these songs being stripped of identifying factors like these in a piano arrangement, the only real way to identify them is by looking for common combinations of rhythms, melodic patterns and chord progressions present in the most popular jpop music - in which case someone would have to already be familiar with the genre to notice that it's jpop. For example, a catchy modal interchange, usually starting from the aolian mode of the key to the ionian mode at the end of the second theme, usually acting as a 'hype up' transition to the chorus, which could then be modulated to a different key or changed to a different mode of the original key. This is an extremely common occurrence in popular jpop...but then again, modal interchange is so incredibly common even in western pop, no one would really notice. If anything would allow the audience to notice something 'off' about it, it would be the melodic patterns and rhythms that set jpop aside from western pop (I believe this is due to language, but that is an extensive topic). Even still, you'd have to play the music in a way that matches the original song, and creative freedom - especially in events - is something that is very often taken advantage of. It simply isn't likely to happen, unless the formal events you're speaking of are for classical, jazz, romantic etc. specifically. If someone hired you to play, say, for a wedding event, unless they had a specific song request, you could very easily perform quite a few 'anime songs', albeit with a some creative freedom, to match the atmosphere, without anyone noticing.

Am very impressed with this one. It has been a while since I watched Evangelion, but I like how Ru manages to keep up the quick pace. Very good coordination and reflexes. For me, it also shows that she actually ENJOYS playing, and when I see passion in an artist's work, I tend to appreciate it much more.
