I feel the interview with Rob Gee could’ve being longer, asking him about his first hardcore experience, his first festival in Europe, his craziest festival experience, who his favourite producers to work with, ask him what he is listening to at the moment and who he thinks are the new producers to keep an eye out for, his thoughts on mainstream hardcore vs uptempo, much like Neophyte he has over 20 years of hardcore experience and is a wealth of experience. Still great to hear two legends have a good yarn and loved this! Looking forward to future podcasts

Exactly! Spot on. They take the easy route, they check the charts, pick a hit tune that's already famous then just add some hardcore sound and sell it. No creativity

At this point this applies to damn near most genres, most people do what's popular while you might have a underground scene that actually tries to do something different but then if that new sound gets bigger, everyone else just does the same thing and the cycle repeats lol

Hardcore is still underground outside of Netherlands... In the U.S. it's been underground since the 90's... Majority people still don't know hardcore even exists and just like Rob Gee said because of those EDM festivals a lot of people know of hardstyle but not so much of hardcore. The only difference is now a days because of internet/youtube you have easy access to everything and can discover new tracks, and new music/artists .. EDC in vegas been booking 1 or 2 hardcore artists (Angerfist, Noize Suppressor, or Mad DOg) so that type of big festivals give good exposure to hardcore artists/music... Sadly if you want 100% hardcore event with thousands of people you still gotta travel to Netherlands...

I got to see Rob Gee one time and I was lucky enough to talk to him after his set. I asked him where in America he was from. He told me he was from Statin Island and I was so confused, I didn't think anyone lived next to the statue of liberty! ha ha ha 🐨 the one time I got to see the main man himself, I got kicked out for doing something naughty on the dancefloor! I claimed I left my jacket inside and got to see the HC GOD in the flesh, it seemed like the best god dam set of All Time! I still have the flyer on my wall! I still got to see Neophyte, even if was for a few seconds, with Security holding my arm, I even got my face painted! So much love and respect for almost 20 years! 😁💖❣️💖🦇🐺🦇

At 43:00 you have this 37 year old Italian dancing like a madman. I just came back from work. I agree what they say in the interview, now it's stale, so many "artists" take the easy route, get a famous song, add some sort of a hardcore sound to it and sell it. It's plastic, cheap, fake. There used to be more creativity and a lot more original content, written material from people who loved the scene like you two legends in the video. I mean I get goosebumps if I even start to sing this in my head!! :) Ok, gabbers from italy and Holland It's time for our fucking war So join the army of hardcore And clap your hands to this... It goes like... START THE WAR CAUSE WE ARE ON THE FLOOR IT'S NEVER SEEN BEFORE ARMY OF HARDCORE (HARDCORE!!)

I agree about diversity in hardcore.. you have to many clowns trying to sound the same with 0 creativity and 0 skills.... Thankfully we still have some pure talent out there and that's why veterans like Mad Dog, Nosferatu, Ophidian or top of the game till this day... Not much competition out there and not that much talent either.. You do have few talented upcoming artists but they get over shadowed by people that create uptempo trash... Now a days it's quantity over quality...
@MeltdownDJ
@MeltdownDJ 2 жыл бұрын
Diversity in hardcore is not a bad things but let's being honnest on this day producer like Amnesys / Alien t / DJ D we miss it especialy in main hardcore. I don't said that everything sound the same... but we get less diversified than we was in 2009 for me ^^ in these day we have ton of producers but only a few who really deserve some spot. about newcomer well yes ! they are shadowed but not only by uptempo ! reality is an enemies as well sometimes i will explain why reality can be bad ^^ the things is that's so hard to does proper quality hardcore ! most of newcomer can't not do nice hardcore tracks under several years of experience and practicing on the studio Now imagine you're a newcomer in the main stream scene you have almost 10 years of experience and you're capable to does proper things, then you see some uptempo guys who does music for like 6 month or 1 years of experience ^^ they sound really bad with their music you know it but they get booking everywhere, cause poeple like that shit even if it's bad quality wise ^^ how you should feel as a producer when you know you have pushed more than all of these guys but get less in return ? is pretty hard to keep motivated ! passion is one things but motivation is anothers things ! you know in music is "dirty" to talk money but poeple should realise that newcomer mainly don't win enough money to live from the music... is not because we play at mainstage on MOH or Dominator that we earn toushand of money... ^^ and that was the case even before the covid 19 era :/ ^^ i talk about that cause the biggest enemies of a newcomer producer is living from the music !! being producer with a full times job under music for paying your house and studio gears is totaly not the sames world as being a guys in unployement who have tons of times for practicing and getting better... free times increase creativy believe it or not creativity and experience they join togethers ! Cause without experience you can't make most of idea you have in your head ^^ so all of that things make the life difficult for newcomer, i will tak in my own names with the meltdown project but i know many producer live in the same situation... and when you have an house to pay with a full times job ! times is become the most luxery things ever made in this world, and unfortunately to be a good producer you need ton of times for practicing your stuff mostly the biggest artist are so skilled that it is hard to get on the same level of quality as them, every producer have their own objective... and for me a good producer will always aim for good quality tracks ^^ producer we don't care about quality have no passion.... being passioned for me it's always aim for being better and make better tracks i will talk about myself i mainly have like 8-10 hours of free times during 1 week this times include my dinner, shower, cleaning my house etc... ^^ if i spend more times in the studio during the night in the week i'm going in my job super tired then the boss will not be happy ^^ so it's hard to be sucessfull in my case cause i miss this precious times, for my motivation i will like to quit my job sometimes hahahaha but i can't right now since my job is paying everything i need to live ! and unployement will not especially in belgium unployement is very limited in money and times but all of that just for saying that newcomer even with good music, still need times, marketing knowledge, promotion, markething budget, social media, inspiration, motivation, and yhe most important point newcomer need to have poeple to support them ! without that they can't be succesfull in these days, most of big producer in the 2009 era stop making hardcore cause with times they loose some supporter and many poeple don't want too hear something that is not uptempo in these day so hardcore get a bit spliited.... some producers survived during the split some others not.... then somes new emmerge that's how all music scene work so i don't regrets the hardcore era in these day cause we get many nice new names, with new tracks and the kicks in general are more stronger than ever but in the others side some track released in 2021 should never as been released in 2006-2012 era ^^ only because of the low quality we got today ^^ luckely mainstream hardcore is not very much affected by that most of big label have incredible and skilled producers but others subgenre is not the same story... so yeah that's my way of thinking today ! i'm not afraid to tell what i think ! even if poeple tell is uncorrect from me to said that ^^ and i'm not afraid to be judged as well, i just doing my own stuff in secret and one of those day poeple will hear in my music that my hardwork just paid off ! i hope so ^^ like many said we are hardcore 4 life !!

Doubt it... Lots of hardcore producers like to sample rock bands or rap artists vocals. Angerfist for the longest use to sample lots of Eminem vocals. It's nothing really new been going on since the 90's. The only problem I see it some vocals being used to many times in to many tracks... For example "6 millons way to die" blah blah No idea where the original vocals are from but I've heard it at least on 4-6 different hardcore tracks... I dunno why it's so hard to find new vocals that haven't been used.

I don’t think so, Mad Dog isn’t the only one with a SOAD song, Paul Elstak did in Angels deserve to die, I believe Rob was just using it as an example of artists who put kick drum on a rock track, which all I can think of is Deadly Guns as the biggest offender. Music that has no soul.
@leeedwardson1566
@leeedwardson1566 2 жыл бұрын
@@13allstar13 Yeah plenty of that just now, they're all guilty of it to some extent, maybe some pushed into it trying to stay relevant, it must be a nightmare being a hardcore producer and being forced into making music just to stick with the times that's why I was baffled about Mad Dog as he's one artist that's done his own thing and kept with the original sounds almost. There's plenty more especially with the Artcore sound but that gets almost overlooked at the bigger festivals.
