An Act to Provide for Establishment of Nepal Rastra Bank to carry out the Functions of the Central Bank
Preamble: Whereas, it is expedient to establish a Nepal Rastra Bank to function as the Central Bank to formulate necessary monetary and foreign exchange policies, to maintain the stability of price, to consolidate balance of payment for sustainable development of the economy of Nepal, and to develop a secure, healthy and efficient system of payment; to appropriately regulate, inspect and supervise in order to maintain the stability and healthy development of banking and financial system; and for the enhancement of public credibility towards the entire banking and financial system of the country. Now, therefore, be it enacted by Parliament in the first year of reign of His Majesty the King Gyanendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev.
