I dated a Nepali girl for 5 years and those were the best days of our lives. But unfortunately, we are not together anymore. Our parents didn’t approve our relationship and she didn’t want to go against her parents. Although I miss her a lot but I didn’t want to put her under any pressure and respected her decision. Hence, whenever I miss her I come to KZbin to learn her mother tongue so that in the near future if I get to meet her I would love to talk to her in Nepali 😊

As a Hindi speaker, it really helps knowing Hindi if you want to learn Nepali. There are a lot of cognates but Nepali seems closer to its Indo-Aryan roots unlike Hindi/Urdu that has a lot of Perso-Arabic influence.
@gametoppler2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Nepali has a strong Sanskrit root.

Many words and culture also match between Nepal and India
@gametoppler2 жыл бұрын
@@Opo.chokey An Indian can learn Nepali in a month or two. Fluency might come with more time however, one can easily understand the essence without even fully understanding the language itself. For eg: दुई सार्वभौम राष्ट्र नेपाल र भारतको सम्बन्ध सधैँ कायम रहोस्, सुमधूर रहोस्। We even use the same script.

Being Indian boy, I know Hindi and English well but I am learning Nepali for my Girlfriend 😅. Although she knows Hindi well and we used to talk in Hindi but I make her surprised by speaking some sentences of Nepali like mma timilaii Maya garchu . Learning Nepali will also help me in future to interact with other family members ❤️

To a native Hindi speaker, it seems like an easy language to learn. Your class was great. The Nepalese are our brothers.

As someone who speaks English as my only language Napali seems VERY HARD lol!
@annbloomsall Жыл бұрын
@waffles658 It is easy for Hindi speakers because Nepali and Hindi have a strong sanskrit root, and Hindi speakers can also read Nepali because it is written in the same script as Hindi

If you are talking to someone that you don’t know, and they are older than you, you use “tapaaee” If you are talking to a family member or your family’s friends that are older than you, you use “hajur” If you are talking to someone around the same age as you like a friend or your siblings, you use “timi” If you are talking to someone a lot younger than you, like a child, you use “ta” So there are different ways to say “how are you”: - tapaaelaae kasto chha? - timilaae kasto chha? - talaae kasto chha? (i don’t think I’ve ever heard this one before though) Also “tapaaeelaae bhetera khusi laagyo” is literally “meeting you made me happy” but it is used when you want to say “nice to meet you.” I am Nepalese but I’m being raised in America so whenever I try to say something in Nepali, I forget how to say it. But I can still understand when someone speaks Nepali
Haha! I am also Nepali but have been brought up in India.
