Neptune 4 Freezes At Loading Screen FIX and NEWEST Firmware Update

Thank you! Thanks to this video, I was able to update the firmware on my Neptune 4. Here are the points where I encountered some difficulties: 1. After connecting the port, the login prompt didn't appear on the command prompt. I typed "mks" a few times, and then the login prompt showed up. I entered "mks" for the ID and "makerbase" for the password, which allowed me to proceed. 2. After installing the Firmware Pack and rebooting, a Klipper error screen appeared. I pressed the back button in the upper right corner. Then, I reinstalled the Firmware Pack via the USB that contained the data, and it worked correctly. Thank you for making this video!

Hello, I followed all the steps and at the end of everything I touch the screen and it doesn't work, what happened to me? My machine was working fine but I updated everything because it had been a long time since I did so and I thought updating it would be good for it. After that, the screen stopped working. Everything was visible but it didn't respond when I touched it. I looked for your video and did everything and in the end the screen still doesn't work. I don't know what else to do.

Hello thank you for this video i have one question. The step 24 area i noticed that the usb drive was labeled usb drive instead of netac and was curious are you using 2 different usbs to complete this. I was confused about how the usb displayed no content when it would have included the elegoo update dir. If it was the same stick

I some times get putty to respond to hitting enter, but i get random dots and "(" but no english or abilty to enter login?

Hii, need help I couldnt run sudo ./update.sh. So I ran the other string instead. The response I got was "dpkg: error: cannot access archive '/home/mks/gcode_files/sda1/ELEGOO_UPDATE_DIR/ELEGOO_FIX_BAG.deb': No such file or directory" it cant find it, now I switched the name of the SD card to sdb1 instead and it started to boot, but errors again due to it not being able to find the fix.log in the folder. ive looked inside the folder trying to find this file but there is none Help help plox

make sure you are using the correct update directory as there is two one for each of the zip files sorry if this is a late answer best of luck

Hey thanks for the video, I have a question though when running the sudo update nothing happens even with the force update, I looked under the directory "gcode_files" but I don't see files there, where do I get those files from as I think that's what triggers the udpate?

Oh I see those files are coming from the UPDATE_DIR folder we need to download and add the USB, hmm I wonder why they're not showing up when I login to the system using Putty? EDIT: Figured it out, it was the way I had putty installed, since I installed it a long time ago I didn't check that it should be under C:\putty which is kind of redicoulus if you ask me but oh well all is good now, thanks for the video it was very helpful.

I installed the touch screen update to the micro sd card and installed it into the back of the touch screen. Im not getting any codes on the screen and only the loading screen still. Please help

Hi, at step 19/20 when I press enter to get the login option, I get more gray squares. It never shows the login option. even when I type 'makerbase' and press enter, it just adds more gray squares in the black box. That is when I use the 115200 port speed. When I use the default 9600 port speed, the login window displays "▒▒?_D){{~▒▒@▒PH[?[W++▒[▒_▒jZ^{[m+[{/▒▒}{//[▒+ "

just type mks multiple times and keep restarting the connection with putty by closing and reopening putty eventually it will work

Hey, I apologize in advance for the long response! Hope it is helpful. If you are using a Windows computer, do you have your printer connected to it using a USB-C to USB cable? If yes, did you make sure to click the 'Connection type' on PuTTY to be 'Serial'? If yes, did you check what 'Serial Line' (the destination you want to connect to on the PuTTY window), and make sure that the 'COM#', matches your connection? **Check this connection by going to Device Manager > Ports (COM & UPC) > USB-SERIAL CH340 (COM#)** Which ever number is after COM is what you will use in the serial input on PuTTY (ie: COM3) The number seems to be different every time you connect your printer to your PC, so that is important during these troubleshooting steps! If you did all of that correctly, and it still did not help... go back to Device Manager and right click > Port Settings and set the 'Bits per second to 115200 Please lmk if this helps!

Hey buddy, quick question... on STEP 21 after typing sudo ./update.sh... is showing again to put on password... should i type the password " makerbase " again or did i have just to wait ?? when I enter the password, it jumps down one line and it appears " mks@mkspi:~$ ".... im freakin out

Hey, sorry for late response! Yes, after typing ./update.sh... it will ask for the password again "makerbase"... after clicking enter you should see a lot of processing/updating. Did you put the "Elegoo_update_dir" folder on your SD card??

@dragonfidgets I thank you! So not only did you help me I had to take one more step. I kept getting error that It could not find home/mks so it wouldn't install the fix or anything. I used your commands and UNPLUGGED my screen. With the screen plugged in your sudo dpkg -i --force-overwrite /home/mks/gcode_files/sda1/ELEGOO_UPDATE_DIR/ELEGOO_FIX_BAG.deb && echo Update completed wouldn't work, as soon as I unplugged screen it worked. TYVM!

Make sure that your printer is plugged into your computer so it can find the IP address of the printer! USB C - USB cord! Let me know if you have already done that, and I can help troubleshoot more!
