The Neptune renewed my love for the line after being so disappointed with my Edin grind. The Fiji was beautiful, but when I got my 8 extra torps again my games felt complete. The brawling moments you can experience with this ship and my beautiful Minotaur are wonderful

I've unlocked the Neptune sometime ago, and while I haven't played her in a few weeks I must say she gives you a great impression whether or not you're going to like the Minotaur afterwards. I found the Emerald levels of survivability (at least in terms of armor) very, very tricky to get used to but once you do you have quite possibly the most offensively minded CL at tier IX with hydro, smoke, workable torpedoes and great guns. Yeah, that's a fair point. If you hate the Neptune you're not going the like the Minotaur that is even more high risk and close combat oriented.

Flamu I will say however that the skill ceiling is absurdly high if you can take proper risk mitigation techniques into account. I'm glad that you mentioned about enemy radar three or so times; people that want to succeed in these really do have to pay attention to them.

To be honest, i hated the Neptune and loved the Minotaur. The better concealment, better firing angles and smaller ship size (more overpens, less penetrations) make a huge difference in my opinion.

Er, Neptune is the ONLY CL at Tier 9. Every other Tier 9 cruiser in the game is a CA--a heavy cruiser.

Man ever since getting the Gallant, and thus far having averaged about ~85k damage in it, I am ALWAYS wondering why more people do not use single launch?... I mean my index finger and wrist are quick enough that I can single launch 8 torps in less than 3 seconds making the PERFECT spread so that I am incredibly likely to land at least 1, if not more torpedoes on target. At least for the games I have played in my Gallant so far - I tend to land a good 2 to 6 torps on an average hit. It's just that single launch allows you to create "Skill walls" - only the skill in this case comes from how you fan the torpedoes. But I almost always see people like Flamu, Notser, and really most replays with the Neptune and Minotaur especially using the normal spread every time, and they rarely get the kind of hits I tend to using single launch and spreading my drop manually. I get that it is quicker to just drop all 8 at once - but unless you are really in a bad spot, why not make the IDEAL spread when it only takes like 2.5 seconds or less to do so, at least in my experience.

Useful advice on using the spotted mechanic to work out where ships are. Edinburgh taught me to spend time looking at the line ups before the match starts to check what I'm facing.

Personally I go with a torpedo reload module and torp expertise captain, being able to fire out 8 torps every 76 seconds (one at the start of the smoke, one at the end) is pretty satisfying.

@Flamu I go for extra AA at slot 3, I think its worth it, just a plane shredder with no def AA. Reload is already good to invest more IMO.

One thing to note. Don't reverse in your smoke when expecting torps. When you reverse you can't make use of the rocket ship acceleration to dodge.

Still remains one of my favorites. It is amazingly easy to do well with, but also equally easy to be 1 shotted within 5 minutes of match (like that one guy at the start of this one). It has strong torps & dangerous AA as well. Also looks good as well, IMO better than the "big destroyer" look of the Minotaur.

One thing is certain, pushing caps like he did in the beginning will not be possible anymore. Not with a 6.6km guaranteed spotting in smoke.

Only spottet while firing. If you know someone is within or close to that 6.6km range, simply dont fire and make some distance(or use an island to remove line of sight). As he said, sitting in smoke and firing does not make you invulnerable, just hard to see. Good players will torp or shoot at your muzzle flash. And if you are within 6.6km now(before the change), you are not hard to hit. So to a large degree, I dont suspect much will change. On the other hand, if you sit in a smoke, and a BB shoots within 10km of you and you have line of sight, you spot him, even if no other allies can.

Yes but you remain spotted for 20 secs. So just "dont firing" isnt a solution since you remain spotted afterwards

At 1:30 he opens fire at a Mahan just 4.5km away and stays invisible. With the new changes he would instantly become spotted and visible to the Iowa, the Neptune, the Mahan, and to the not spotted Hood and Yuugumo. That's a massive change, and not for the better.

My Neptune games are pretty much feast or famine i.e. I score well with good torps and lucky shell shots, and i help my team with strategic smoke-ups, or I get spotted immediately, targeted by half the enemy fleet and deleted in the first 90 seconds of the game. I prefer my T8 Fiji to Neptune. For that matter I prefer my T6 Pensacola to Neptune. I don't like to sit in the back I like to be up front where the fight is, but Neptune cant really do that whereas Fiji (and Pensacola) seem purpose built for it.

The Neptune is alright but once you get the Minotaur it's not worth keeping, you get very similar MM and the Minotaur is just much much better, particularly it's a smaller target, not as tall so is less easy to delete, plus it's concealment is excellent, it's like a big DD and then the DPM is insane.

The Issue with Designing a ship tree based around smoke, is that smoke shouldn't function the way it does at all to being with. Under no circumstance should you EVER be able to fire at an enemy without them being able to fire back. Yes you can blind fire into smoke, but what if there is an island between you, or if you do blind fire your chance of actually not only hitting them, but killing them is incredibly low "Around 1 out of 30 salvos". This is also why I take issue with being being spammed to death by torpedoes from an unspotted destroyer. If you look at every successful competitive gaming franchise they all have one thing in common, they never have mechanics that allow you to attack an enemy and the enemy have no way, or almost no way to fight back. Everything has counterplay, but in WoWs every game you have 6 fucking smoke clouds through the map and there is jack shit you can do about it unless you have radar, but even then you will be perma spotted by a carrier who is keeping his planes just outside your AA range, but inside your spotting range meaning there is literally nothing you can do but die.
