Am I understanding correctly that if the mechanical seal were to be replaced it is necessary to remove the motor and bearing assembly first ? I am accustomed to working on VIT where only coupling and spacer require removal to lift seal off. Generally there isn't an independent bearing assembly. Just curious. I am looking at moving into the municipal type applications from oil and gas and trying to learn the differences. Good video and thank you for posting. Peaceful days to all

Dear sir i have an doubt about vertical multistage pumps. My question is Why the vertical multistage pumps are dont have balancing drum arrangement for axial movement due to differential pressure. Then how the pressure is balanced without balance drum. And instead balancing drum system which methods are used to arrest the axial float in the vertical multistage pumps.

external lubrication? that is something to think about. a submersible pump can do the job with less sophistication...thus, less maintenance. cheaper, too.

why do we use adjusting screw in vertical turbine pumps ?

The adjustment sets the impeller lift. The impeller(s) need to be lifted away from the casings. The lift is typically very specific. Too much lift and you will get recirculation which will reduce efficiency. Too little lift and the impeller will contact the casing causing all kinds of issues.

So what keeps the shafts from commng unscrewed whrn the motor shuts off?

The motor turns counter clockwise which would tighten the shafts instead of loosening them. It is important to check motor rotation prior to coupling or have a non-reverse ratchet in the motor.
