Fun Fact: Daniel has never done a crane kick in any of the five Cobra Kai seasons before this one. Johnny did it to mock him and Miguel used it in the first tournament, but Daniel was saving it for the perfect moment after 50 episodes to take down his greatest enemy. Epic.

I personally would have preferred Daniel to defeat Silver with that "Back-Spin Kick" characteristic from Terry. Like, he not only uses his technique against him, but he also defeats him by using his signature move. Likewise, this way is still epic and iconic.

Daniel doing the Crane Kick is symbolic not just because it’s his most iconic move but because it represents him finally finding balance. He made peace with his rivals. He has the full support of his family. And he blends everything he’s learned into a style that fits him and helps him overcome his PTSD of Silver. He learned how to stand so he could fly

Ok, when you put it like that..... Honestly, when I saw him getting into that stance, I was like there is no way Daniel can beat Silver straight up & not only that, he's gonna beat him w/ this garbage move??? The fact that he basically caught Terry by surprise w/ it was all I was accepting. If this universe never happened & someone did that stance & kick in real life, you'd see it from a mile away. & because of that, I didn't think we'd see it again cause it's too predictable, even for this universe. But w/ you mentioning Daniel really finding peace throughout this season & finding balance (literally & figuratively) it makes sense for that to be the finale.

This is really where Daniel shines. Combining the teachings of both Mr Miyagi and Chozen to show he's fully mastered Miyagi-Do, he uses an Eagle Fang move all while using Terry's own Quicksilver method against him. Two things I absolutely loved about this scene: 1. In Karate Kid 3 when Terry Silver fought Miyagi, Miyagi finishes the fight by throwing Silver into the mirrors lining the dojo, shattering them. The shattering of the Cobra Kai logo after the crane kick is a nice reference back to that fight. 2. At the end of Karate Kid 3 right before overtime against Barnes, Miyagi's final advice to Daniel was that while it's okay to lose to your opponent, you can't lose to fear, and that Daniel needed to focus on the task at hand and let out his best karate. After spending much of Season 5 being paranoid about what Silver would do, and even getting beaten up by Silver in stingray's apartment when he was genuinely afraid (for himself, but mostly for his wife, kids, and students), you can see there was a marked change in Daniel by this point. His approach to the final fight with Silver was composed, focused and devoid of fear, allowing him to let out his best karate and beat his opponent. It was really a fantastic way to end the Season. To echo the thoughts of others, it's really commendable how well the writers and producers of this show stay true to Miyagi's teachings and weave that through the fabric of the show. It's very well done. As a final point, Thomas Ian Griffith has been plain awesome in his reprised role as Terry Silver. To think the guy hasn't even really been acting for the last 15 years. I hope he gets some more work out of this, even on other shows.

it's actually genius how the use the rule of "a man cant see, he cant fight." that philosophy could be interpreted in many ways. For example it someone cant physically see they cant fight. But if someone cant see and think clearly they cant fight. For example Daniel lost to Terry silver earlier because Daniel wasnt able to think or see straight because he was so blinded by rage. Daniel always wins when he is most balanced. Terry wasnt seeing straight and was unbalanced, he underestimated Daniel and let his arrogance get in the way, which a theme that happens to many characters such as Chozen in karate kid 2, Mike Barnes in the all valley and John Kresse in season 3. Mike Barnes was a better fighter than Daniel but He lets his arrogance get to his head unlike Daniel who remained balanced.

Silver made so many major mistakes along the way that, by the time he worked his way back up to Daniel, all of his strong suits became worthless. Chief among them was needlessly making enemies out of those he might have found useful. Burned down Mike's furniture shop, which effectively got the guy on the side of a punch-clock enemy. Chozen made him work for his last win, and by the time he went down, he had drained more than enough of Silver's energy for the main opponent to finish the job.

I love how Daniel didn’t betray any emotion during the fight. He kept his eyes strictly on Silver, allowing himself to be two moves ahead of Silver throughout the fight. The fact that he used Silver’s lessons against him made it sweeter. Mr Miyagi would be very proud. Silver, on the other hand, clearly wasn’t used to his opponent actually being able to fight back and was thrown completely off his game. Daniel had a counter for everything and cracked the bully in the jaw with relative ease. Finishing him off with the Crane Technique was the icing on the cake. The symbolism behind that final kick is so good! Daniel using the crane kick, his most famous and deadly attack is already awesome, but Silver’s final stand is even better. He’s backed up against the wall, surrounded by the trophies that Cobra Kai “won” through cheating. He tried to use them as a weapon against Daniel, but Daniel kicked him against the wall, shattering the symbol of Cobra Kai, just like Silver shattered his reputation with his students and allies. Two things... 1. Daniel beat a guy who had already been in a war. It be like your dad beating up your bully, then you swoop in and beat him also minutes later and take all the credit for kicking the bully's ass. Miyagi took on 3 guys by himself. 2. Sensei *isn't* a rank. It literally translates to "person born before another". It's just a word given to anybody who teaches anything. In Japan a kinder garden teacher is a sensei. It has no special meaning. It's only in the west where people exaggerate shit to make them seem more important to the general public. If you go to Japan and call yourself a "sensei" they'd look at you like there's something wrong with you.

@Montana-tw7im I would say it's more about the analogy, "two sides to every story". In KK1, Daniel is naturally considered the hero because we see him rise up from being bullied and beat on by Johnny and his Cobra Kia henchmen, without really knowing why Johnny was so enraged by Daniel. In the movie, we don't have much of a back story for Johnny, except that he's perceived as the angry ex. The shows master stroke of having Johnny, with intermingled clips from the movie, explain his side of the story. Johnny's story is very credible and looking at it from perspective, some the thing Daniel did the movie could be considered as provocative, but it did make me think that maybe Daniel isn't the as good as he thinks he is, especially considering his show off behaviour towards Johnny when he visits his car showroom.

I'm 100% with you in this one. Most "nostalgia filler" flicks just try to sell exactly that: Nostalgia. This one show the precise amount of references to the old stories to feel connected, to feel that you are still watching the same characters, but at the same time, it's the modern day. They are the same characters but with 30 years of life, of experiences, and a new generation that will take the helm. This fight was awesome, yet the show isn't just about old men trying to act like they are teen: It's a show about the new generation, and the world that the older ones are leaving for them!

@@nathansaintus9927 Daniel could have beat him regardless - considering he walked in calm, collected, and playing his game. More important to the flawless victory than his fight with Chozen is how utterly angry and out of control Silver was by all the events of that night. The team had done exactly as chozen said would be needed to beat the snake. They played the mind game. Silver was losing when he came in rattled. This is an underrated comment because people reference the first fight from earlier in the season where Terry won and say it's unrealistic how Daniel beat him so easily not long after. But if you compare the two, in the first fight Daniel was the aggressor. He was pushing the fight and Terry was countering him for it because he knows how to handle aggression, it's his style. In this fight Daniel let Terry lead and used Miyagi-Do mixed with a little Quicksilver to win the fight, it was Daniel going back to his roots and using the style that made him who he is to win.

In my opinion, I think we finally saw Daniel finally learned Mr. Miyagi’s most important lesson, that one day he will create his own style of karate. He did master the Miyagi-do teachings and he also learned the Cobra Kai teachings. The fact that Silver didn’t land a single hit on Daniel is only something Mr. Miyagi was able to do. I am very glad they used the crane kick for the final kick. Silver always told Daniel the crane kick would never work and Silver didn’t even realize what hit him. From the moment I saw Karate kid 3 as a young kid, I was mesmerized by Thomas Ian Griffiths performance as Terry Silver. He was such a great over the top villain and was the highlight that saved an otherwise mediocre retreading of a film. When I learned that Terry was being brought back for Cobra kai I was stoked and now that I watched the entire 4 and 5 seasons I can safely say, that Thomas did yet again, an incredible part as the shows villain. He was the best thing in the entire show and that's saying a lot for a show that has so many wonderful characters and great scenes. Cobra Kai was a fantastic reboot and continuation of a film series I grew up with as a child. It brought back loads of nostalgia while at the same time introducing new and compelling characters. I think it was on purpose that Johnny, Chozen and Mike weren’t there because they would have wanted to help. Probably also gave Daniel a sense that he HAS to do this. No one is here to help him. Although would have loved them all to have seen Silver get his ass handed to him.

I feel like this is the moment that Daniel really emerged as a true martial arts grandmaster. With this fight Daniel has finally succeeded Mr. Miyagi and has completed his transformation into being the true grandmaster of Miyagi Do in the West.

@@stamatisgkionis2357 yeah man mike barnes was a bad ass as johnny would say lol. I hated to see johnny get do like that but he pulled thru in the when he saw his baby picture on the ground. I know he's having a girl watch and see cause he already have a son in robbi. that little girl is going to have 2 big brothers watch and see. mike barnes came in the nick of time and he have good size on him. now with silver being arrested I know he's going to use some serious money to get out and kreese out of jail shit about to get real. I think he prove his innocence and get out of jail but can't do no teaching cause he broke out but season 6 will be solid
