@@evakaname I mean you’re not wrong, but…. I think he went to Jaskier for multiple reasons. Yes, he was the last person that talked to Yen and therefore the only person Geralt knows who might have a clue what she’s up to. I also think he just wanted to make sure the bard was safe. Not only to protect Ciri if others came for the same information but because he was genuinely worried about Jaskier and realized his friend was getting dragged into a mess not of his own making (technically). Just full papa-bear mode. There’s clearly guilt for what went down on the mountain, of course. I think the biggest thing, though, is Jaskier is the one character (outside of maybe Tessia) who sees Yennefer for everything she is. And he’s willing to tell Geralt that truth to his face. Geralt needs Jaskier to be a barometer for him because he knows he can’t always trust himself where Yen’s involved.

It's Jaskier's unashamed rawness while simultaneously displaying some healthy self-respect - & his ultimate willingness to forgive, while leaving Geralt in no confusion that _it is not unconditional_ - for me. Also Geralt showing growth too - all that time as a Dad having helped him begin to defrost & soften up, so that he's actually able to _be the first to admit vulnerability_ , as a good faith offering to the man he _knows_ he wronged. While at the same time they both remain recognisable as being fundamentally still the same ppl; Jaskier is still a sweetheart, but he's not _weak_ anymore, & Geralt is still a badass, but he's nowhere near as toxic. Brilliantly written, to wrap up so much mutual character development in a single short scene.

The apology pretty much went the same way, few yet sincere words by me and my friend rightfully irritated and sharing her feelings with me. We've haven't fought since and I try to be a bit more open even if I can't all the time I at least try to communicate better. Compromise goes both ways, loved this scene.

Did you at least promise to be better? Because Geralt here did nothing of that. A measly "sorry" followed by "shut up, Jaskier". Is this what you call a proper apology?Geralt treats Jaskier like a dog. For your friend's sake I hope you treat them better than Geralt treats Jaskier.
@k.h.6912 жыл бұрын
@@BlackKiryuu Look in Geralt's defense, he had much more on his plate than a long winded apology. I think its also understandable that Geralt is used to a life alone, taught to suppress his emotions, and that being close to people gets either them or him killed. The fact that he even begged for help knowing he asks literally no one for help and admitted he missed Jaskier is a milestone in his character. Sometimes people require more patience to grow, its up to those that give that patience whether or not they are able to give that. Yes, i have my own apologies even if they were more brief than hers. I struggle with explaining myself and being in touch with my own emotions other than my rage and i wasn't at the level of torment that Geralt went through. Sometimes trying is enough for people to give their friends another chance. People don't change over night, mistakes happen. It sounds like you're one to hold a grudge and resentment which isn't healthy.
@BlackKiryuu2 жыл бұрын
@@k.h.691 Yes, I can hold a grudge or resentment because some people don't deserve forgiveness because they don't bother to earn it. I am glad, that you are trying. That is the whole point. Geralt in contrast is not trying at all. That is what I wanted to emphasize: Geralt is not putting any effort in changing the pattern that leads him to treat Jaskier badly. He is continuing like he did before the mountain. There is no change in him. Is it really that hard to cut back the insults, to not give rude side eyes at Jaskier, not belittling him at every moment, just saying a sincere "thanks" once in a while? Geralt got all teary eyed when Yennefer appeared, got all emotional and visibly relieved that she was well but towards Jaskier there was just indifference and annoyance. As always. A change over night I don't expect, no. But a change over months or at least a year, should be doable and the minimum.
@k.h.6912 жыл бұрын
@@BlackKiryuu I disagree, perhaps you have a hard time with subtle gestures. To me, Geralt did seem remorseful of his actions. Compared to season one, Geralt would not have stood there and took everything Jaskier was saying from the heart when he had things off his chest to say to Geralt. He stood after Jaskier made it clear "no you listen to me now" and Geralt listened even despite him wanting to avoid it. Friends sometimes have a level of understanding when someone is trying to do right and sometimes to other people that might not be enough. You're definition of friendship and conditions to that friendship might be a great deal different than someone else's. If Jaskier felt like Geralt was hurting him, there is nothing holding Jaskier back from leaving. People have different requirements for friends, what seems like a friend to you may not seem like one to another. I know for myself, I can be quite the shit friend at times especially when i get overwhelmed with anger. However I have friends in my life who understand I have a hard time with my anger and know when I snap its not intentional. It took me five years to handle my anger and even today i still slip, especially since i used to isolate myself and aggressively push people out of my life. I am thankful to my friends who stand by me despite how ugly i can be unintentionally because they know i try. No one but Jaskier knows if Geralt's trying, thats good enough for me.
@lewd28512 жыл бұрын
@@BlackKiryuu You clearly can't tell the difference between an emotional state of friendship vs a state of romance. Geralts feelings for Yen are VERY different compared to his feelings for Jaskier. Geralt and Jaskier are two shit talking friends, but Geralt and Yennefer are, or were, lovers. Not to mention he had thought Yen was dead, obviously the emotional reactions would've been different. Could Geralt do better? Yes, absolutely, but there was a massive change between S1 Geralt and S2 Geralt, if you can't see that i can't help you

" to shove something up someone's Geralt" is now an officially approved idiom. I appreciate that Jaskier is such a motormouth invested in his music that even threatening to cut out his tongue didn't stop him trashtalking the guard. Had it not been Geralt opening the cell, he was due for a beating and he couldn't care less and still wanted to make his point. Gotta love Jaskier.

And in that moment Jaskier was hit with a new inspiration that he's never been hit with before. The fires of creativity burned deep within him... A new song was born, as Jaskier belted out the first lines of the chorus "THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!" In his heart Geralt knew this to be true and smiled. The boys were indeed back in town!

It's just the camera angle that makes Jaskier look taller in this particular shot, because Joey Batey is stood closer to the camera. In reality, Henry Cavill is actually 2 inches taller than Joey. Henry is 6'1" whilst Joey is 5'11".

@@AlizEdits27 I actually think it wasn’t that simple. I can tell from Geralt’s body language and the way he talks that he does regret how he treated Jaskier, but at the time he said what he did, he was hurting really bad. I don’t think Geralt feels it excuses him at all though. For all we know, he might have gone so long without talking to Jaskier because he was ashamed and didn’t know how to say it. It might be why Geralt didn’t make any real complaints about Jaskier’s antics this season. That and he knows he can count on Jaskier.

In the books Geralt Is constantly sulking and trying to push his friends away and they always tell him to stuff it and to quit being a baby. I’m glad they captured that in the books. Great scene in the short stories where Nenneke being mad at Jaskier is curious why Geralt hands out with him. Jaskier is what Geralt wishes he could be, fun carefree, accepted by society, and Geralt is what Jaskier wishes, focuses, strong, brave. They are complimentary

Their friendship is everything in this show! also I love how Jasker is portrayed in the beginning as a whiny, overdramatic performer who is kinda cowardly, but he is clearly loyal and brave when it comes to his friends. Also dont mess with his music he will throw a bucket load of sass and insults your way😂

I think it's kinda sad how Geralt only got Jaskier out of jail to get the information about Yennifer and after that Jaskier is again just that guy who follows Geralt around with anyone either ignoring him or being annoyed by him. There is no appreciation shown neither from Geralt nor anybody else, which doesnt really make sense to me from a character arc point of view. Like imagine instead of what happened in the show, Jaskier would have sung "Burn, Butcher, Burn" in the prison cell and Geralt would have heard it while waiting to ambush the guard and then Geralt would really think about it and start really care about Jaskier and be like an actual friend to him.
