Plot twist: the korean one is based around real case circa 2000, where wife commited multiple insurance scams aroud family and 3 husbands because she was an ex-insurance worker and needed money to feed drug addiction. She knew that eye injuries were higher payed and used needles bc they are difficult to trace back. In the fact, many asian man and women were found with needles in heads. There is a strange phenomeon in Asia about this. (No children were harmed in real case, her addiction was because her daughter died in some crazy unrelated accident)

Using a dictionary to play makes it like a boring version of a ouija board. I can't really say I like that as a solution since it assumes you didn't even want to play to begin with. Anyone who thought it would be fun would obviously pick a creepy book to enhance the atmosphere. An actual solution should at least start at the point of the game being a bit too creepy for one's taste. Starting there, while I like the idea of making it a stubbornness competition by insisting on getting permission to leave instead of reading more stories, I'm not sure the idea would work. Unless there's some rule about the witch having to expend energy each time it refuses, there's no reason it wouldn't hold you hostage until you die of dehydration. The fact that it bent the rules by not granting permission the first time they asked makes me think they were already screwed by that point. Even if the girl hadn't tried to leave, it's possible that reading the book makes it stronger and it would have gotten to manifest after the third story with or without the other two dying. Personally, I'd call this unbeaten. Morally of the story? Don't play games where you need permission to leave.
