In Brazilian Folklore have also the Saci Pererê, Cuca, Curupira, Boitata, M'boi tui, Teju Jagua, capelobo, Sanguanel, Iara, Ipupiara, the Brazilian Werewolf, Corpo Seco(Dry Corpse), Mula sem Cabeça(Headless Mule), Bradador, Matinta Pereira, Caipora, Et Bilu and a lot more.
Now I'm interested, let's all introduce more folklore creatures from our countries/cultures In Argentina, in the northern parts, there is the 'Pombero', an evil dwarf who's also super strong. If you're walking alone through some forest or plane and you hear a particular whistle calling you, you should not look on its direction because it's the Pombero taunting you, and if you take his bait he'll beat you to death. Also, families on the north sometimes leave cigarettes or some alcohol on their doorsteps as an offering to the Pombero, because it's believed that if you don't share those goods with him, he'll abduct your children.
@fernandoferreira18762 жыл бұрын
Hello Canko, that's well explained. Pombero is one of many Guarani myths here in Paraguay too, so it is always interesting for me that we share some cultural elements between Northern Argentina and Southwestern Brazil, for example. Saludos desde acá bro 🤙

5:47 In Indonesia, we also have a mythological creature similar to manananggal, but in Indonesia it is usually called "kuyang", the name of this creature is different in each region, especially in Manado where I am, we call it "pok-pok", because the sound of the sign the presence of this creature whose voice sounds like "pok pok pok", roughly like the sound of a chicken, some say that this sound is caused by the sound of its organs colliding with each other, some say too, the farther the sound, the closer the sign so is the creature. The appearance of the pok-pok/kuyang is even more terrifying, where only the head is flying, with the internal organs flying with the head, and the organs are directly visible. According to folklore, pok-pok/kuyang roam in the middle of the night looking for pregnant women and stealing the babies that are in their stomachs. The babies stolen by Pok-Pok/Kuyang will be eaten, by eating the babies, surely the power of Pok-Pok/Kuyang's black magic will be stronger. The story about this creature is still believed by many people in my area, especially the parents. After all, many stories similar to this creature can be found in Malaysia, Thailand, and others.

I feel like if you mentioned the trolls in the Norse mythology, it would be more recognized. Becouse trolls are the most popular mythological creatures in the Norwegian folklore. They dwell in the mountains or caves, and can’t be exposed to sunlight - otherwise they turn to stone. Trolls can be really big creatures, and they are extremely old, very strong, but they are slow and dim-witted. They like to eat ‘grøt’ which is a Norwegian dish that is a type of rice porridge.

6:56 Traditional DOKKAEBI is said to have been like a tall (generally) handsome man rather than looking like this. DOKKAEBI in the video was created when Korea was briefly occupied by Japan in the past.(Have you heard about "ONI" in Japan?) Now, this fact is well known in Korea, and the appearance of the existing traditional DOKAEBI is reviving. In addition, they have many magic tools, and the most representative are "DOKKAEBI bat" and "DOKKAEBI hat." The bat is used to perform magic, and when you wear a hat, the person you wear and the object you are holding become transparent. DOKKAEBI is created by changing objects that are used for a long time or stained with blood, so some rural areas still never put things such as brooms. This is because it can turn into a DOKKAEBI.
