Did you notice how Courage is always afraid but he always faces what he fears no matter what the circumstance is. That's what courage is, it's not about not having fear, it's about facing it. I find it poetic and an elegant message from such a classic masterpiece of a cartoon.

I used to be slightly scared of it as a kid and thus was never a bigtime viewer, but going back now as a teenager, this shit is creepy af! not scary, but unsettling. it gives you this uneasy feeling when there is scary stuff and that's why I don't watch it a lot, because usually I'm watching cartoons for comedic effect and dont really find humor in slapstick as a teenager.

agreed, I felt an lack of depth in this review, courage is not only about being scary, pushing boundaries or being funny. I feel like they wouldn't remake Courage the Cowardly Dog again. With cartoon networks modern cartoons bright and happy while focusing on dumb, naive characters, Courage would stand out like a sore thumb. Courage the Cowardly Dog was incredibly ahead of its time. "The Mask" might be the most progressive cartoon episode ever created. It dealt with subjects that, at the time, nobody touched especially for a cartoon. Courage the Cowardly dog was funny, clever, thought-provoking, and inspirational. It made you laugh. It made you cry. Just flawless.

I have a very fond and yet painful memories related to this show. Me and my deceased younger sister absolutely loved Courage. Every evening we would take turns to watch our favorite shows on cartoon Network. First, i would watch Dexter and after that my sister would watch powerpuff girls. Then finally, we would watch Courage together. Whenever I do my Courage impression of "things we do for love" she'd laugh hysterically. So, sometimes it is really hard to hold back my emotions whenever i see or hear anything related to these shows. But life has to go on. While i have no control over life and death, she is still alive in my heart. Always will. Anyway, great video mate. I'm subbing. Cheers!

Courage was one of my favourite shows as a kid! Love this look-back. I think the value of horror cartoons for kids is seriously undervalued by people who grew up in safe circumstances. For kids who go through destabilising childhoods horror shows are a great way of externalising those threats and fears, and Courage's persistence in finding safety at the end can be a real subconscious anchor for kids that might not feel safe anywhere yet.

It was the element of mystery and "what's going to happen today" in each episode that sparked my curiosity and left me wanting more of it despite the show's horror. It is by far my favourite show on Cartoon Network that made me contemplate life in a way after each episode

In my personal opinion, courage the cowardly dog is the best cartoon ever made. It has the perfect balance of comedy and horror. It also taught many viewers some life lessons, one example being the last episode “you’re not perfect” teaching the viewer that no matter who you are you will never be perfect. Courage the cowardly dog is a true masterpiece.

I was a scaredy-cat when I was younger but Courage the Cowardly Dog was first out of two scary things I would watch. It didn't give me many nightmares but usually, one nightmare was enough to make me never watch it again. However, it was too entertaining and every episode was so different that it left me to curious to leave alone. Just the fact that I know everything would be okay in the end comforted me and made me forget my fears. It's a frightening masterpiece that I would always go back to watch to this day.

@@RetroDeathReviews666 The second one was an anime movie called Akira. I went back to rewatch it about two weeks ago because I haven't seen it in so long and it was a miracle the movie hasn't gave me nightmares. I remembered it being fucked up but when I rewatched Akira, it was worst than I remembered now that I understand the heavy concepts it throws at you. Honestly, it made me question how did so much fly over my head and who the heck was babysitting me because they obviously weren't paying much attention if I managed the watch it like three times. The movie definitely isn't for children and I advise anyone to watch at their own risk.

I always loved courage, something that stuck out to me was that courage overcomes the "bad guy" by empathizing with them and helping them through their problems, it's a more honest and realistic depiction of what "good vs evil" actually boils down to in real life most of the time. I don't see that kind of love and maturity from any other show, especially from shows aimed at adults

Courage is actually one of my childhood heroes growing up, the fact that he was absolutely terrified in most of the situations he was in but was able to push forward in order to save Muriel and even Eustace (despite how poorly he treats him) always stuck with me, it taught me and a lot of kids that even if your scared, you can also be brave, especially when it comes to your family. To this day not only is Courage is one of my all time favorite protagonists in any media, but Courage the Cowardly Dog is one of my all time favorite tv shows

One thing i never understood as a kid was Eustace's resentment towards Courage and basicly being rude towards everyone, then i realised that Eustace was verbally abused by his mother and brother then his brother died, in a hunting accident and Eustace realised that his mother, wife and dog are the only ones in his life, he had a nephew (through Muriel) that was locked up in a mental asylum he was comfort eating to deal with his emotions.
