My impression was that Singed’s ‘plan’ was to demo his science to the most powerful potential patron that could continue funding his research. He needs his new Silco.

I don’t deny that possibility, but I think this was more to test Warwick’s healing factor. There’s only so much Singed can do in a lab, but putting him in a combat situation means he would be pushed to the limits. He thought he had Warwick under control and once he cut through the enforcers he could return to his lab, but didn’t expect Jinx to bring Vander back to the surface.

My impression is that that deal with Ambessa only happened by chance to his favor. I think he has a way to control the beast and he was actually planning on escaping with it, I don't think he was planning on being captured at the rally because he had no way of knowing Piltover knew about it. I think he decided to imprison himself after he saw Jinx and thought it would be a good experiment to see if that can recover Vander's mind - which is what he was trying to solve.

@@0927kira You're absolutely correct, remember he said to Isha on the way to Stillwater "I'll tell you a secret: we won't be staying long". Singed's entire thing is he's a man of science who will stop at nothing, which was also Silco's philosophy, "power comes to those who will do anything for it" and "the only way to defeat a superior enemy is to stop at nothing". He believes in that, and he saw that in Ambessa and realized striking a deal with her would work out in his favor, a patron who can fund his experiments and won't mind the brutality, violence and cruelty that may come with it.

Plenty of named characters have died Named characters that died in Season 1: Benzo, Grayson, Milo, Claggor, Sky, Marcus, and Silco Named characters that died in Season 2 so far: Councilman Bolbok, Cassandra Kiramman, and Hoskel, Smeech, and now Salo I do think you have a point that none of the characters that are League Champions have died yet (which are the main focus characters), but to be fair, this is their backatory before League, so i would expect them to survive

The other two chem barons were also taken out as well. You can see them in broken glass during the episode 3 montage I think when Vi and Cait were using the Gray in the enforcer raids.

I really think they are building up to some pretty incredible branching series with this storyline. I'm guessing some things will be wrapped while some, like the Black Rose, definitely won't be. I'd LOVE to get a Mel focused series, so maybe this is just wishful thinking!!! But she's been pulled so far away that I imagine her resolution might be the widening of the world and the teasing of an entirely new show. The only storyline that this show really needs to wrap is Jinx, Vi, Cait, and Warwick (maybe). I think the Piltover/Zaun stuff will reach at least a closing point, but I am so interested to see where things sit at the close. It's a good feeling, though, because I trust these writers one hundred percent. They've done a stellar job with everything so far.

I think Vi and Jinx desperately want to be sisters and to love each other, but there are just so many circumstantial things that have prevented that. Now that there is a legit excuse to put things on pause and come together, they don't really need too much of a push. Every time they've seen each other the show's gone out it's way to highlight the struggle within each of them to fight.

Jinx and Vi never cared about the larger societal issues. Vi only cared about her sister, and Jinx was only concerned with fulfilling her codependent coping mechanism on Silco by pleasing him in S1. Even Silco himself was more obsessed with simply getting revenge on topside by hurting them than anything actually big picture. Arcane has always been about how the larger overall plot is driven by the collision of many different characters personal stories, not because any hero character is pursuing a master plan. Singed's plan was a product demonstration. He needs a patron, he knows Ambessa will buy in if he shows his creations are valuable as weapons. No named characters die... if you ignore the laundry list of named characters that have died. Pretty sure Arcane has more named character deaths than any other popular show running right now. Penguin killed fewer named characters than this show did in one season.

Remember in season 1 viktor combined shimmer with the hexcore and it looked like he corrupted it, then that corrupted hexcore combined with his body when Jayce tries to save him, that’s why it looks different. Also notice how when Jayce firsts sees salo it flashes like an alien looking creature, and how Jayce looks cold in the room and you can see his breath but salo you can’t, almost like salo is lifeless now. So idk if viktor is actually helping people like he think he is lol also Jayce clearly knows something

Dark Vi is her self destructing because she lost everyone. She lost her sister, then Caitlyn, and has nothing left. When Jinx comes back it gives her someone back in her life. She can get her family back. Also notice Jinx doesn’t have the voices in her head anymore.

16:45 I question that Victor can heal at all, personally. 21:00 "Are we still sisters?" "Nothing can change that." is pretty much the definition of their relationship. As far gone as she was, Jinx couldn't bring herself to kill Vi in the arcade. As far gone as she was ,Vi stopped Caitlyn from killing Jinx in the underground - even after literally telling Cait to 'take the shot'. They don't *want* to hate each other - they want to love each other. It makes sense for them to leap at any catalyst for reconciliation - especially the possibility of saving what tore them apart in the first place. (We'll ignore poor Milo and Klagger still being most emphatically dead at Jinx's hands, since the show seems to be).

Well, it's like you said, the event that tore them apart was Vander, Milo, and Claggor's death. I don't think it's being ignored so much that Vi understands Powder/Jinx never intended to kill them in the first place. She does express regret for leaving her during their S1 reunion. It's likely still a pain point but something that Jinx can't really 'fix' so maybe she's avoiding any mention of them.

The reason why it feels so much bigger is because it is. Idk much about League lore, but this is the story of one city, focusing mainly on 2 characters, Vi and Jinx. Arcane is their story, and this show is meant to end with some sort of wrapping up of their story, specifically. But the world they live in is an entire world, with countries, empires, wars, history, etc. (As far as i know) And Arcane is just this one story of this city, but there is going to be more series that exist in the same world that will tell the stories of other things outside of Piltover, but those series are not gonna be called Arcane because its not going to focus on the same people and plotlines

Me again, Good News. While VI and JINX's story ends this season they are going to do other shows set elsewhere. So Mel and the black rose might be setting up a Noxus show. 1. Caitlyn has "detective vision" she uses it in season 1 on the airship. Just cop stuff I guess. 2. "Nothing Stays Dead" is a theme. The point is bringing "innocents" to their Legends (as in league of). Death and rebirth is a classic mode of transformation, specifically when stripping humanity from a person. @NerdyNightly 3. I know you find this tough, so let me help. Time has passed! Jayce has a beard and has built some kind of splint while "away" so he is not just been in limbo. 4. Magic=Natural Force. Wild rune (water runs downhill). Hextech Runes (Pump "tells" water to run uphill). I assume if Vikktor had not built the "hex cube thing" the magic would naturally have taken the shape of the Wild Rune thingy. I have no reason to believe it works like this. It just felt intuitive to me so I never questioned the explanation.

I think the vi and jinx coming together. I agree is abit rush.... But on the contrary i agree with clarus that. They didn't reconcile more so tolerated each other. Vi and jinx tried to kill eachother already in act one. But that didn't end well, we see vi this episode drowning herself in booze and violence. Basically she decided to step away from the Jinx vs Cait, so from the start of this episode Jinx and Vi no longer had loved for each other. They are now just doing this for Vander.

Great reaction guys! I think Singed was just putting a Demo for Ambessa to get her patronage. The Vander/Warwick plot line is great in my opinion because it is a fantastic way to bring the sisters back together.

Did Powder literally not say in this episode that everything goes wrong when they try to do it themselves? That was literally her main reason for going to get Vi? Vi left to get Vander without Powder and that caused that down spiral. Powder doesn’t want to make the same mistake again which is why she went back and she literally explicitly stated that in this episode. 😭

I agree with your point about the editing. It's the real difference between S1 & 2, in my opinion. In Season 1, 80% of scene transitions were telegraphed. You could almost always deduce what the next scene was going to focus on or which characters would be involved. Season 2's transitions are far more inscrutable.

This show really needed to be three seasons. We went from this insular micro plot line of a drug lord taking over a city, the corrupt government exploiting their citizens, and two sisters struggling to find each other. Now we’re in the midst of the psychedelic mindfu*k that includes a multiverse, necromancy, and AI squashing out humanity. There needed to be a bridging season in between those two stories.

arcane was originally suppose to be just a jinx and vi story that they weren’t even sure if it’d be canon or not. Think of arcane more like a franchise now, They decided it was canon and are going to make more spinoff shows from it. So yes they are wrapping up the jinx and story this season but introducing a bunch of stuff that follows the canon lore timeline now that will set up other shows they make in the future.

"Over-designed bitch mittens" remains one of my favourite lines. I had the exact same thought about Freeze. I mean, what didn't Doc do in that cave? Vander has had quite the make over This show knows how to hit you in the fucking feels man. I have been told, by annoying British friends, that Warwick sounds lijke "Warrick" btw. They got me into the game, but it is also a somewhat famous town in England. Earl of Warwick was big in the Wars of the Roses. My feeling is that while this is that last season, there will be spin offs, so not everything needs to be tied up in the end? I agree alotta stuff is moving quick tho. The season should be longer, if not by episode count then by time per episode. Clorus is probably right that it costs alot to give it the time it feels it needs. Yeah, like Salo went from being on a couch getting drugs painted onto his broken body to a fucking cultists drone with no scenes or explanations. Personally not sure if that is a cocoon keeping her alive, or a sarcophagus keeping her presentable until she can be turned into a weird zombie. Cops haven't walked in the door and gassed you "yet". Fucking ACAB. I am not sure Viktor is actually the main problem, or that Jayce is all that reliable a source of morality. I do think Salo became goo in much the same way anyone would when hit with an incredible amount of force. Pretty sure he's pretty dead. I will say, people call Warwick a werewolf, but he doesn't shapeshift into like a human. He's just a giant wolf-man. The blood thing is part of his mechanics in the game btw, he goes faster following a blood trail and stuff, at least since the rework, but I haven't played in nearly a decade so my memory is fuzzy.

I'm with Nerdy that i wish some of the character to character relationship developments could be given more time to breathe and that it does feel like the show is speeding along a bit too quick cause there are so many plots, but fuck me if this show isnt excellent overall

At the same time though, I don't feel like they introduced any new plot other than Vander's resurrection (which was only teased at season 1 but you had no device to connect it to Vander). All of the "new" plot people are pointing out were just a continuation of what was already established in season 1. 1. Black rose - clarification of what Ambessa was dealing with in season 1 and why she ran to Piltover. 2. Viktor's new form - progression of what he was already going through in season 1 experimenting hextech with himself. 3. Arcane that sucked Ekko, Jayce, Heimer - Heimderdinger always warned the council about the use of magic in season 1 and we are now finally seeing its actual effect. 4. Singed and his daughter - he was already seen working for Silco in season 1 but we finally get to know WHY.

@0927kira they've not necessarily introduced many new plots, I agree, but they've definitely introduced more points to each of the threads that I don't feel are always getting explored enough, or the developments are sometimes getting rushed through. That might change once I see the final 3 episodes, as it could show some flashbacks to things between events we've already seen to flesh them out. 🤷🏻 Anyway, it's mostly a minor gripe and a very subjective one. 😊

Hate to be a cynic, but I think a lot of the suits in Riot saw the success of the first season and are now cramming plot lines into season 2 to set the stage for a spin-off. The Black Rose stuff seems completely disjointed from the rest of the story and thus gives me that vibe. It's sad because they simply need to write a decent story and people will happily follow them into a new series. But they're sacrificing character moments and arcs for a potential next project. They've fallen into the Marvel trap.
