Folie à deux means "folly of two" and really is used to mean "shared delusion." It's used to describe when two people share a delusion. In very rare cases, one person even "transmitts" their hallucinations to the other, and they see the same things, feeding into each other's mental instability and almost synchronizing their thinking. In this case, it looks like Joker and Harley are going to be sharing delusions of being in a musical, while also feeding into each other's delusions of grandeur.

For me I feel Lady Gaga is the modern Barbra Streisand, an okay musician and okay actress who the industry is trying to push to as top tier talent due to her background. Her over Botoxed and plastic surgery face takes me ruins the 1970s authenticity of the movie. We all know she got this gig because Todd Phillips is best buddies with Bradley Cooper and basically told him to cast her after she did Cooper a favour starring in his first directed movie. I personally I would have cast a better actress with a more natural face, but it is stunt casting.

I think a lot of those who have issues with Lady Gaga being cast n this just haven’t seen her act in anything so they don’t realize how perfect she is for the role. They only see her as the pop music artist who sings “Bad Romance”on the radio. They are probably the same crowd who complained about Pattinson being case as Batman but once they saw the movie, they realized he was great for the role. Some have probably already changed their mind just from this trailer & others will once they actually see her in the movie. Also, the internet most definitely does not reflect the opinions of most people. Some people like being trolls b/c they have no life & argue about stuff they don’t even know about.

I've now seen everything online. Certain channels are already pushing the narrative that they "woked" the movie up by having not only Lady Gaga in it - but making her such a big part of the movie. Martin Scorsese was actually tied to produce Joker (2019) but dropped out of it. He even considered directing it but didn’t find the time for it. This was before Scorsese said all those things in 2019 about superhero movies that pissed off some fans. Now Todd Phillips idolizes Scorsese. Todd is 53 born in 1970. Scorsese was probably one of the most influential directors and Taxi Driver was probably a very influential film to him growing up. Considering Joker 2019 already had ties with Scorsese, it kinda made sense to combine Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy. You get a guy like Arthur Fleck ready to crack like Travis Bickle but then he wants to be a late night talk show host/standup comedian like Rupert Pupkin. I only recently saw The King of Comedy (1982) before Killers of the Flower Moon and I totally see the influence that movie had on Joker as well as Taxi Driver (1976) which remains one of the best Scorsese movies ever made and one of the best movies, period. And to have Robert De Niro taking a role in it and who portrayed Travis and Rupert? It’s Todd Phillips making a Scorsese movie and it was a damn good one. I know some of my friends didn’t want to see it. They didn’t feel Joker should get that serious. But I loved the direction they went with it over the tired old troupe we see in most comic book movies. I believe that was the direction they had to go to. Expand the Joker’s range for more artsy complexities. I did not laugh once for the 2019 movie. Joaquin is not as charismatic as Heath or even Jack as the Joker. But I thought his character as Arthur was more complex and brilliant. More nuanced as a bullied soul. It’s a brilliant movie in a deep roster of movies from 2019. As many others have stated: Joaquin isn’t the type to do sequels or franchises. He’s similar to the great and now retired Daniel Day-Lewis. He’s very selective with the roles he wants. I think Joaquin saw something special in this script for him to sign on board. Joaquin has that clout now to be selective with the roles he’ll take. I didn’t know until recently that Joaquin is married to Rooney Mara. I was rewatching The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on Tubi and it made me look her up. I know she is very close with Brie Larson. I rewatched an interview from years back when Brie Larson ran off from a college party. Was a pretty funny story. I think Rooney Mara is a babe. I enjoyed The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo which is why I wanted to watch it again. She doesn’t look all that pretty in it but then she’s all pretty in The Social Network. The most expensive part of the film will probably be the Broadway sets and the music rights. I was one of the really skeptical people because I don't like musicals. So you have to imagine, you think the first Joker is really great and hope for a sequel, and then it's announced that it's going to be a musical. That's when your world collapses. But now, after the trailer, even I'm hyped. I just hope the trailer matches the movie in music and atmosphere. And yes, I'm not a fan of Gaga in the role of Quinn, but not because she's woke or gay or whatever. I just can't imagine her matching Quinn's craziness. Robbie did it so convincingly for me and so did the comics. It's just hard for me to imagine. I like to be convinced. In any case, she seems much calmer in the trailer than everyone knows her, but she also matches the atmosphere of the trailer and she vibes with this Joker clearly. So I'll keep an open mind. I hope that if I've seen Quinn's quiet side in the trailer, that the movie shows me her way to absolute craziness through the Joker.

Sooo there is a song from Fall Out Boys called "America's Suitehearts". The music video was them being circus characters, and there's a guy who fell into a green goo which then turned him to a crazy clown type circus master. Then a girl watching him, who I guess kinda liked him, followed him to the circus and also fell into the goo. They then became sort of partners, that were crazy together. It's very similar to a Joker and Harley Quinn love story. Coincidence?? ❤‍🔥 And get this, the song "America's Suitehearts" was from Fall Out Boy's album called FOLIE á DEUX...🔥🔥🔥🔥

*J-j-j-Joker* *face* Interesting trailer. Joker & Harley romance movie. 🃏 October 4 or same day when Joker 2019 was released. We got the Penguin series coming this Fall too. This Joker looks interesting. Don’t really know what to expect. It seems part romance and part musical. ~Can't read my, can't read my~ ~No, he can't read my Joker face~ I’m there. This is a Day 1 for me. I never miss a live action movie related to Batman or Gotham going back to 1989. And yes, I did enjoy Joker 2019 which I watched 3-4x in the theater and was happy when Joaquin won an Oscar for it. I always knew he had the talent since seeing him in 8MM and Gladiator. Joker is Todd’s love letter to Scorsese’s Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy while getting De Niro for it! Warner Bros. looks loaded this year. They still got Furiosa in May and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice in September. Planning to see Godzilla x Kong a third time this week. What I really can’t wait for is The Batman Part II. Robert Pattinson hates Twilight but his favorite video game of all-time is the same as mines: Final Fantasy VII (1997). But I’m more a fan of Tifa and I especially love her more in Remake while he loves Aerith. Cool trailer. Hope we see another trailer in 2-3 months to explain the story a little better. This teaser is a bit confusing on it’s premise. It’s like a romance story mixed with One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest but set in Arkham Asylum but turned musical? That’s the vibes I’m getting from it. But I think they’ll nail their performances because Joaquin and Gaga can really act. Gaga was excellent in House of Gucci even if the movie wasn’t good. June looks loaded. House of the Dragon S2 vs. The Boys S4 vs. The Acolyte. I’m watching all of them!! But I think WB wins again with House of the Dragon in the Year of the Dragon 🐉. I love The Boys but GRRM’s lore is far more interesting. I will watch The Acolyte based off curiosity but I’m not sure I’m interested in watching space lesbians. Frickin’ Disney. The Acolyte might bore people like they did with Echo. The movie that could surprise me the most this year will be released this Thursday. I’m hearing great reviews for Civil War. I think the premise to it is interesting. I’m older than Kirsten Dunst by almost a year and a half but she already looked 10 years older than me from 10 years ago! Her real life husband portraying the Trump supporter / soldier is making me become a bigger fan for Jesse Plemons. Whether some people might be unsure with this being musical, one thing is for sure: Joaquin and Gaga are going to crush their roles. Oscar-nominated performances. Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors of the last 25 years. His older brother, River, would be proud. That lipstick scene is an insta-meme classic. That’s going to be used as a meme or gif for generations. It’s an instant classic scene from this movie. Flawless execution. So far, Warner Bros. still has the best movie of 2024 in Dune: Part Two. They’re killing it. Dune 2 and Joker 2 could both be nominated for Best Picture. Then we got a Superman movie and a Batman movie next year. F Disney. 😂 Well, except for Deadpool & Wolverine this July. I actually have no problems with musicals. I saw Grease (1978) for the first time late last year and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I grew up watching Mary Poppins (1964). I saw West Side Story in school. The OG and not the one with Rachel Zegler before she became the most hated actress in Hollywood over Brie Larson. I’ve never seen Singin’ in the Rain or The Sound of Music but I’ve seen The Wizard of Oz and all the Willy Wonka movies which are all musicals. My favorite movie from 2022 was NOT Top Gun: Maverick which I still love and own a hat for but it’s Elvis. And that movie was basically music videos/concerts stitched together making it essentially a musical from Elvis’ discography. I was NOT a fan of Elvis or his music until I saw that 2022 movie. I tend to listen to my movies while the screen is off. So musicals have great replay value for that. It’s almost like you’re listening to the radio. No whining from me if Joker 2 is a musical. Many of those Disney animated movies my generation grew up on from The Little Mermaid (1989), Beauty and the Beast (1991), Aladdin (1992), The Lion King (1994), Pocahontas (1995), Hercules (1997), and Mulan (1998) are musicals. I honestly think it’s a genre that should get revived. A musical may not fit with DC characters but let’s just wait and see. Let’s not prejudge it. Makes me want to watch The Sound of Music (1965). Any musical can be great if the songs are good and perfect for that scene. Musical numbers can be the most memorable scene in a movie if done right as seen with “Sweet Child O’ Mine” sung as an acapella in Step Brothers (2008) or Dustin singing Limahl’s “Never Ending Story” near the end of Stranger Things S3. Back in 2012, a silent movie called The Artist won Best Picture for 2011. Then we saw La La Land win some Oscars. Everyone is saying Joker 2 is becoming “Ha Ha Land”. I don’t mind it. Love hearing great tunes in a movie. Throwback to the Golden Age of Hollywood! Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory (1971) is probably my favorite musical film ever thanks to “Pure Imagination” while The Lion King (1994) is also up there thanks to “The Circle of Life” in that legendary opening. But does it top,l “A Whole New World”? Not quite. Recent Ted series did a great gag on Aladdin. Folie A Deux refers to a psychotic breakdown that happens in two people. Specifically, it's a condition of "transference" of psychosis from one person to another - it's a medically recognized condition (according to Wikipedia...) so it seems this is what it refers to.

Oh, Claroos definitely needs to see the first one before this! Maybe as a reaction? Or just on your own time, whichever. But the first is a wonderful movie! (The title, by the way, doesn't mean "folly". It means "a madness of two", which is a French psychology term for a shared delusion, where one delusional person convinces someone else to also believe in their delusions.) I disagree that the first isn't "reaction-y". There are several shocking moments, and tons of emotional ones, and those are the real emotional reactions we're here for 😁 Can we all agree that Lady Gaga in the red suit walking through the crowd is fashion 🔥?

1:20 i am someone who has read ALL comics from 1938 to currently published. i don't think comic book readers or people who are hardcore fan should have problem with lady gaga. if you are a hardcore DC comic fan you know the mystery, the magic behind DC comic, is it's variation. you can have multiple batman, jokers, harley BUT you can't have more than 1 iron man, cap, thor. there is more character diversity and growth in DC universe than MCU js.

Folie à deaux means “folly of two” and really is used to mean “shared delusion.” It's used to describe when two people share a delusion. In very rare cases, one person even "transmitts" their hallucinations to the other, and they see the same things, feeding into each other's mental instability and almost synchronizing their thinking. In this case, it looks like Joker and Harley are going to be sharing delusions of being in a musical, while also feeding into each other's delusions of grandeur.
