That means you have fried the motors. Only way to fix it is to open it up and change the motors. If you do I would buy upgraded motors so you can shoot harder.

Your darts are getting chewed by the end because you put the end first into the hole. I usually like to put it tip first so the darts dont get chewed on . :)

The one nice thing i like about Nerf is that, if I want to have an airsoft war, well, I have to keep it in the back yard cuz these days a simple orange barrel brake, or orange at the tip of the barrel, just doesn't make toy guns look like toy guns cuz everyone is so hyped up about toys that look like guns. but when i want to have a nerf war, well, I can have it in my front and back yard cuz of the bright paint covering THE ENTIRE toy blaster, it just screams "HEY THIS IS A TOY!!!". which is nice so i don't have to worry about over-reactive anti-gun parents calling a S.W.A.T. team to my house saying that we're waving around real guns.
