@@Matt-md5yt Like many people, you're only looking at it from a very narrow point of view. But the vast majority of Nerf style products are young kids, and most of the adults using them are just parents playing with their kids. Nerf blasters are meant to be toys. Most don't mod their blasters other than sticking on other attachments to look cool, and if they paint or decorate them, they tend to be simple, rough alterations. They simply don't need to open up the product.

Very conclusive video! A few suggestions for the format though: - if the blaster takes standard mags, it should get full points for capacity (with points being deducted from package contents if only a small magazine is included) - range, accuracy and fps tests should be conducted with identical darts (again with points being deducted from package contents if the included darts are sub par)

They explained in the video that they were as if it solely on what the package gives you for those that have no other resources to get new ammo and magazines. I’d say it’s pretty fair to compare packages in a controlled manner in isolation to see the value. Once you start mixing and matching you can alter it in many different ways which wasn’t their goal

Im just wondering how the spectrum got a lower score in range when it shoots harder, with more accurate darts. 90-100fps vs 70fps.
Yeah... The kinematic equations for distance that include initial velocity do not depend on mass at all. Those waffles should have gone farther.
@drflux4 жыл бұрын
Those things are not a flat translation to higher range. You have a lot of variables IE: cage crush, system power (can be too high or too low) dart weight, barrel drag, and so on. Also in this hobby I have seen many times accuracy = less range. A scar barrel is a good example. When you throw a scar on say a caliburn you get increased accuracy but decreased FPS and in some cased decreased range.

Thanks for the video and for owning up where you may have skewed the comparison/contrast results by leaving your blaster in the sun by using old Adventure Force darts. It’s also good for us to know. In addition, it would have been nice to see you do an additional portion by switching the darts used in the range test, too, using Elite darts in the Spectrum and the AV darts in the Phoenix. That would have given a truer picture of each blaster’s range performance as well as that of each type of darts. Just a minor bit of feedback. Regardless, thanks for the video.

When Nerf was on sale at Target a while back, I picked up 3 Phoenix. 2 were $20 1 was free because of the sale. But I ended up pulling them apart. The batteries, flywheels, motor switch, barrel... basically everything you really need to make it shoot a dart out minus the trigger is all contained in that little package and you can extract the entire thing at once. This makes for some fun projects. You basically can use a Nerf Elite 2.0 Phoenix as a budget afterburner or something else. Another friend ended up buying 8 of them, stacking them, adding a 10' tube onto each one and just packing them with darts. The extracted cages were then fitted in a water cooler barrel and the flywheel buttons were attached to the top handle while the bottom handle was used for support. Multi Mini Missile Mayhem. I think that's what he called it. Only issue was no springs on the back of the tubes nor any dart followers so you wouldn't be able to angle the shots upwards at all and even straight shots were difficult.
@another39977 ай бұрын
Clearly, like most of the others commenting, you aren't the typical "nerf" user. You see these as something to be modded, upgraded and "improved", whereas the vast majority of nerf users don't. Sure, kids might put some stickers on them, quickly daub paint on them or mix and match stocks, scopes and barrel attachments, but otherwise they're unaltered. A relatively small set of hardcore users want "nerf" blasters to be something they were never intended to be.

I gonna say, and it's not to take up for Hasbro, but any we compare blasters that have different power reserves, as in 4 batteries, verses 6 batteries, we should expect the blaster with a higher available voltage to come out on top. I'm actually surprised it wasn't a worse spanking. I wonder now,(I know it's probably not worth your time at this point.) how well the Phoenix could compare using an additional 2 batteries and using the same style darts in both blasters.? The Spectrum is ugly. While I love how powerful it is out of the box, it is still ugly compared to the Phoenix. If the Phoenix wasn't clipped and solvent welded, it would have been a very popular symmetrical Stryfe clone.

I would still say get a Stryfe if you really not willing to range outside of Nerf, the performance is basically the same. But the ero is what kills the Phoenix, the mag release being where and how it is and the front weight due to placement of batteries. I mean the "best" thing about it is the additional rails. If anything is an "improvement" on that alpha strike Stryfe -est blaster. But that's not saying much, seriously just either pay the premium for a Stryfe if you have to, otherwise get the Spectrum.

Ok I think the range score was bullshit. How does a blaster that shoots 20-30fps harder get a worse range claim? I know waffle darts aren't the BEST for pure range but cmon man. I'm having trouble believing that. Still, overall a good video but I definitely think you gave nerf a LITTLE bit too much credit. They made a Stryfe that shoots maybe...5fps harder? than the last version. With worse ergonomics. With the same (mostly) inferior ammo type. With practically no way to mod or repair. With less attachments and less compatibility(the Adventure Force can take a legit M4A1 stock for crap's sake). Y'all were pretty lenient with this clear cash grab.
@blankettoys85334 жыл бұрын
1337wafflezz I got a few things to say 1. The spectrum CAN’ TAKE M4A1 stocks 2. Even though a blaster shoots harder doesn’t mean it can shoot farther 3. There are multiple factors that can make a blaster shoot further like wind,darts,cage, motors,flywheels, cage crush. etc. 4. Everything else is your opinions.
@1337wafflezz4 жыл бұрын
@@blankettoys8533 Ok, first off. I thought most of the Adventure Force blasters shared the same stock attachment point as the Nexus Pro, which I read can take normal Ar-15 stocks like a real gun. I suppose I was mistaken, I just thought the plastic was molded in a way to do so. Secondly, yes...well..depending. If accuracy is bubkis then sure. But...really? it has to do mostly with the darts. I'm just saying that I'm not doubting the validity of their tests but they should have thrown in the same kind of darts in both blasters. That's a fair comparison. Waffleheads will dive and are incredibly stable. Elites could have caught the wind and traveled FOREVER. Heck if the wind is strong enough, you could have decent ranges by probably just sticking your arm up in the air with one and letting go! I'm saying that a 30fps increase blaster like the Spectrum MOST LIKELY has much more range using the same type of ammo. I like this video and think everything else was a fair score. But ya, there's no comparison. The phoenix looks nice as hell(opinion, lol). It aint nothing compared to a similar flywheel with at least 20fps readings higher.
