ALL 34 BLASTERS REVIEWED! The best line of Foam Dart Blasters NERF ever had, from the Hammershot to the Contractor. NERF Zombie Strike was a sub-series of NERF that launched in 2013, during what could be considered a peak of Humans vs. Zombies, with the Hammershot and Sledgefire; and then went on to spawn dozens of blasters all under the theme of foam darts stopping the zombie apocolypse. It's one of my favorite lines of all time in NERF with some of the best blaster designs Hasbro ever made. NERF Zombie may now be a thing, but it isn't Zombie Strike; and we're going to take a look at every single blaster in the series. How do they work? What were they good at? How would I improve them? And will we ever get a double-barreled Sledgefire?

The reason a lot of the early Zombie Strike blasters have a different aesthetic is because Nerf was reportedly testing both Zombie and Western themes with focus groups and zombies won out. So the earlier molds were made to fit either theme. Zombie Strike eventually switched to the makeshift once it was an established sub-theme, while Doomlands took inspiration from the unused Wild West concepts.
@gigadrayco84
@gigadrayco84 2 ай бұрын
Well that definitely explains some of the blasters in the Doomlands line and why both the Hammershot and Slingfire would've been right at home in there. Unfortunately, I personally found that a lot of that series was needlessly oversized for what they did and could've been slimmed down by substantial amounts as the only one that really caught my eye was the Double Dealer.

The worst part about the "Hmm... let's just make money." Is that four basically seperate fandoms all felt it in tandom. Nerf, Transformers, Magic, and D&D all were hit one way or another, what with the layoffs, the whole Pinkerton controversy, and the worse paintjob and plastic quality. How badly does a company need to mess up that four seperate fandoms can hang their heads and sigh with regret?

The rehashed cowboy phase of the Zombie Strike line was literally peak!!! Good thing they didn't trash the concept cuz if they did we wouldn't have gotten the Hammershot, Doublestrike, Sledgefire & Slingfire all of which paved the way to cool and gimmicky priming mechs... Even though some of them lack in the performance department, I think the emotional response you get when you fire this blasters is enough to make up for it...
@MikeGuerrero

I am lowkey fascinated by the fact that in an industry where copying features is commonplace, Zuru made multiple versions of the FlipFury without the actual 'flip' mechanism. Pulling the lower trigger simply unlocks the barrel; you still have to manually rotate the second barrel into position. If you time it right, you can twist the blaster and pull the trigger to force the new barrel in. I wonder if Zuru left it out to save on costs or if there was some sort of patent they didn't want to challenge.

Great video, Walcom! It's nice seeing the chronological history of these releases, as well as the original Elite designs for some of the first few blasters before they had decided on this line and the aesthetic. The little background gags behind the product shots were funny, very nice. Zombie Strike is definitely a line to be cherished, even with the weaker releases. The Revreaper and Brainsaw are some of the favourite items in my small collection! More things like this definitely seem like a good way to evolve your work, although obviously they're very time-consuming so maybe just every... two months? Whatever feels comfortable for you, very important not to get crushed by ambitions. I still enjoy your "here's a new thing it's pretty cool" reviews as well.

Some of Zombie Strike’s charm came from all this little details in the shells of the blasters, like screwdriver grips, barbed wire wrapping, bike chains, pliers, screws and bolt, and all the other parts. Made me love those blasters so much. These new blaster for Zombie just don’t do it with the dips/skins on the shell. These printed details feel like cheap clutter and graffiti, and it’s just too busy to look at. I know those details are expensive to add, but it’s disappointing to lose.

@24:40 *I actually used a Doublestrike to give an old Warthog with dead internals a new life by combining their shells into one piece. Looks so damn good.*

The flip fury is honestly underrated. Got one from an arcade earlier today and I honestly find that thing really slick for a potential sidearm.

Video was an absolute zinger. Made me feel that passion for nerf that I hadn’t felt in a long time. Watched the whole thing in one shot

I'm glad Hammershots were still being sold new on Amazon when I got into the hobby in late 2019. I'm glad Hammershots are still available new as I type this! The Red is dope.

I still have my Doublestrike that I got as a kid, and it's one of my favorite sidearm blasters. It's easy to load, easy to conceal, quick to fire, and the grip is soooooooo comfortable. I also have a Scravenger that I bought in 2021, and that lever action is beyond smooth. I often like to flip it like Arnold Schwarzenegger.

I still own a crossfire with the bow arms. I honestly have no idea how anyone ever lost them, given how i used to do stupid shit like taking the bow arms off of the blaster and using them as a sling and i still have them

If I made Zombiestrike 2.0... -The Piper: Electronic full auto flywheeler with a body shaped like a pipe and a magazine going in the top. The stock looks like a T-pipe with a wood piece wrapped to the back. There would be a tac rail on either side of the blaster to attach the scope(also pipe-shaped), and a barrel attachment point up front. -The Gravedigger: Four-shot pump action front loader springer with a four-stage trigger. The front of it would be square with the brown wood-like pump handle wrapping around the entire forend. It would have a stock attachment point at the rear with a detachable stock reminiscent of a shovel AK. -The Lancer: Internal mag slide operated springer rifle with a Slingfire-like stock and a bolt handle that can clip into either side of the slide and comes down near the trigger guard for "mad minute" style shooting. Barrel attachment point up front, for a barrel covered for its full length by foam with a foam bayonet at the end(to make the bayonet more melee-safe).

That would go well with a personal headcanon idea of the original ZombieStrike line being a paramilitary force created by survivors of the zombie apocalypse standardizing blaster designs to better defend against the zombie hordes. Personally I like to think ZombieStrike 2.0 would be a desperate attempt to rebuild this militia I dubbed the ZombieStrike Corps and upgrading the original ZombieStrike Corps arsenal shown by the original ZombieStrike line and introducing new blasters that are more capable to try and push the zombies back and regain the territories the original ZombieStrike Corps managed to claim to rebuild the world and civilization/society.
