Thanks for sharing these valuable tips. I'm also a fan of nerikomi. And I just found 50% of my nerikomi pieces have small cracks after bisque firing. It's so frustrated. I will definitely try your tips next time!

Thank you for sharing. You have to have a strong spirit when the success rate is low! I think the english word for this special clay is wadding. :)

良く分かりました。 私は練り上げの壺を3口作ったことがあるのですが3口ともひびだらけになりました。それというのも所属する陶芸教室の粘土の価格が高く(釉薬料,焼成料が含まれているため)練り込みの雑器を作った時の余った粘土を溜めておき.それを使って大きな壺を作りましたが.それらの水分量がまちまちであるがためにひびだらけになったのだと理解しました。次回はできるだけ水分量を多めにして(練り込みの雑器を含め)作ってみようと思います。 それと,理解できないコメントが有りますが気になさらぬよう。

Why are you using iron oxide all the time. It must be drying the clay out as well.
