@IngramPlisken there was a video that actually helped me understand the perspective of curly as a captian of Pony Express had no better options. If he dared to take action the company would dock the pay of everyone including anya. He couldn't lock jimmy anywhere cause the rooms with locks are of high importance and locking jimmy in any of them would cost the crew greatly. Pony express is also to blame, the ship is poorly made, bare minimum of survival resources( no pod for daisuke), and the list goes on. Curly was screwed from the start, yes he's a pushover yes man. But that a perfect choice for a company like Pony express.

@@IngramPlisken Yea Curly kinda screwed up, but personally, I just don't know what he could have done in this situation. Remember, they were on a tiny ship in the middle of nowhere. Besides they worked for grotesque evil corporation which doesn't care about their employees. So they couldn't just like put him in jail or gun him down, or throw him in space. Jimmy as a matter of fact was still a second pilot, and they needed to deliver their cargo. So from the point of view of morality or decency, Curly isn't good person. But on the practical side he IMO did nothing wrong.

the wildest thing to think about is that near the end, 5 months after the crash, anya would have been around 7 months pregnant, and jim just completely disregards it in its entirety. no wonder she couldn't stomach giving curly his pain meds

I'm glad that Nerissa didn't let Curly off the hook, way too many folks are like "oh no poor Curly he's a good boy he didn't deserve this" but like...yeah, at best he did nothing to actually stop Jimmy and at worst he ENABLED him. This is a tough game to watch. I think a lot of people have the unfortunate luck to know a Jimmy, someone who always thinks he (usually he) knows best, never thinks anything is his fault, and dodges all responsibility up to the very end. Your line delivery for the characters got pretty intense at times. I hope you play more story-focused sci-fi/horror games like this, this and SH2 have been interesting.

I've already watched a bit of your playthrough of Mouthwashing before via a compilation of reactions to Swansea's final speech, Nerissa, but an edit by HoloSync mashing up five holomems' Mouthwashing voice acting performances for the birthday party scene got me wanting to leave a comment on this VOD, a comment expressing my appreciation for how wonderfully seriously you take games like this and Silent Hill 2. And I must admit that you're someone I'm especially degenerate about, so much that I struggle to watch you as closely as I watch the video creators I usually watch, so knowing things like this and how sociable you are, especially with your family, means a lot to me. Mouthwashing: You can (not) take responsibility 2.0. Jokes about Evangelion aside, this game is a very good psychological horror experience. Jimmy is such a butthead, and that's putting it mildly. I feel so bad for what Anya went through. Curly isn't innocent of any wrongdoings obviously, since he kept ignoring what Jimmy did in order to keep his friendship with him and to keep tensions low on the ship. I suppose we as the players have the hindsight of seeing Jimmy for what he really is though. While Curly isn't innocent, I also feel that Swansea also didn't take action either until it was too late. Ultimately the only ones who felt truly "pure" were Daisuke and Anya to me. That isn't to say Curly or Swansea are evil but simply flawed. Now Jimmy is definitely evil. It's not really talked about a lot since we often focus on Jimmy being a big ol jerk, but I wanted to look more at the other characters emotional situations. Curly feeling unfulfilled with his life is something many people can relate to. Anya is stressed and shaken up from her experience with Jimmy, and it left her feeling helpless and unable to feel confident in standing up for herself, which are things that victims of SA feel. Swansea regresses once he starts getting drunk again. The accomplishments he chased never really felt as good as he imagined it would at the end and realized that he was only truly happy when he was drunk out of his mind. Daisuke wants to be helpful, but whenever he did it always seemed to lead to more problems instead. He definitely experiences feelings of uselessness and the stress that it causes. They all have their own struggles, and it left them unable to see past their own issues, which allowed for Jimmy to become such a huge problem. I think the moral of the story is that inaction in order to try to keep a friendship or a semblance of peace can end in disastrous results - And that Jimmy is massive butthead. There's a line from the Live a Live Sci-Fi Chapter in the English dub that I feel explains the situation, which I'll paraphrase (Which funnily enough also takes place on a stranded spaceship with a crew) "We're not bad people. We're all just stuck in our own heads. Too busy to notice when others are hurting. Too busy with our own wants and wounds and imagining the life we feel we deserve. We're just people" I feel like it does a good job summing up Mouthwashing. People can get caught up in their own inner turmoil and can't see the smaller things going on around them.

I say Curly was a good captain but not a great one. Funnily enough both captains did a bad thing but Curly was able to take responsibility for both Jimmy’s fuck up and his own. Which is why I am willing to say he’s a good captain.
