Love it. Remember how I was overwhelmed the first flights. Its so much information in the beginning and the radio, and the rpm , and the altitude/attitude.... This is exactly what makes flying awesome ... You are doing a great job as flight instructor.. everything was safe and that's the most important thing

Thank you! It helps when I have easy students! Yeah the first few flights are pretty insane it’s actually amazing they will be off flying on their own in 10-20 hours!

It's been alot of years since but remember my first solo. My instructor said go out and do three t&go then taxi back to the FBO. He said if you need to dont hesitate to do a go around. It was quite the feeling when he closed the plane door. Got really quiet. Whent and did my three and came back where typically CFI would watch their students out a big window. Trying not to show my excitement I asked my instructor "did you watch me?" He said "I watched your first one but had another student on the sim. When I asked him why not all three he said "you dont what me to have a heart attack do you"? HE WAS KIDDING! N6529M 1989. Anoka County Airport,MN

Lol ... he was only half kidding the first solo is sketchy! It’s amazing how much a new student learns in that first 20 hours! I blame my grey hairs on watching students do their first solo. It might be I’m getting old though.

I’m glad you told him “power out and then nose down” because I remember there was a plane I flew where the nose didn’t come up with power. It went down. And I’ve since noticed some planes sometimes won’t pitch the nose up or won’t do it enough.

Thanks! It’s hard to process every thing on the first few flights. I just throw a bunch at the student and see what sticks. He was still flying so even if he wasn’t hearing it all he was doing great. Good luck on your training! Those first few flights will be a blast!

My god I shit my pants when he came down hard. I've only played sims and thought that kinda landing would do damage to the plane, I feel a bit better about some of my landings now haha. Also.. Did not know you attempted landings so quickly when learning to fly, only lesson number 2! I hope to do it some day.

We don’t usually do landing practice on flight two but I let my students fly from day one ... I let the student do everything they can and just help out when it starts to fall apart. Yeah Cessna 172 are awesome! I have seen some crazy hard landings and they just keep on trucking. Our cessna’s have thousands of hours on them with more than their fair share of hard landings. “Any landing you can walk away from right “ lol

Great instructor, although on final as he's beginning to flare (or when he should have) the instructor advised him to hold, and immediately told him to bring it back.. he should of been a little more clear about the flare so the student was prepared.

Flight schools ought to just paste the words "RIGHT RUDDER!" above the 6-pack!
@NEROAviation
@NEROAviation 4 жыл бұрын
Ha, That would just give students another thing to ignore in addition to the instructors voice saying “right rudder”

I would start flying a little as soon as possible and maybe even look for a summer job working at an airport. Washing planes can be pretty lucrative and a lot of work. You might also look into Civil Air Patrol ... they have a cadet program that can be fun with some free flights. The more your around your local airport the more you’ll learn and the more chances you’ll have to fly around. Most pilots are into passing along knowledge to the next generation ( just take a lot of it with a grain of salt ... lots of mediocre pilots out there lol) You can also download the airplane flying handbook from the FAA for free ... it has almost everything you need to know to fly well. Good luck 🍀 !

@@NEROAviation Thanks for the info. Should I volunteer or get a job at my local airport? And should I get a job/volunteer at a flight school? Because I have looked at a flight school that I'm interested in.

You guys dont state full stop or touch and go at this airport?
@NEROAviation
@NEROAviation 4 жыл бұрын
Our school planes only do full stop landings at this airport. I’ll say “full stop” on some of my calls if we have a plane on our six. Generally the other operators in the area will say if they are doing a touch and goes though. Our airport can get crazy so I’m happy if the other aircraft in the area make any call at all lol. I always make sure to call out if I’m doing touch and goes, or anything out of the ordinary. Good comment and we should add “full stop” more often probably.

why do many of the CFI's teach aileron then rudder. But everything you read is other way around!
@NEROAviation
@NEROAviation 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure, but ailerons are pretty easy for most students to understand and they use them from day one easily . Rudder is a little more subtle and they forget to even use it. “More right rudder” is something most every instructor gets tired of saying...lol. If some one is struggling with rudder I tell them a little cheat “ lead with rudder”. It’s not technically correct but will get them using them together and as they progress they learn to use rudder and aileron correctly. I don’t know if it matters which as long as they learn both in quick succession.

Our school does the ground and flight training at the same time...I personally like having ground done or at least mostly done before starting fight training. Most of our students seem to handle it but they have to self study to keep up with the flights.
