Now THIS is live electronic music. No pre-programmed loops, no pre-created sets... just raw musicianship.

FanaticalDrummer : You do know that Jojo has added and is using an electronic clap device now and not an acoustic efx cymbal or product he designed, right. . .? He's still a great drummer but that fake clap sound is cringe-worthy ~

+What the hell is Jojo Mayer doing using that pre-programmed "clap" sound which is mounted ON TOP of the Sabian efx cymbal he created !? Digital fake "clap" sounds like shite-- Did I misunderstand something somewhere ...isn't Jojo all about 'CREATING' an electronic sound out of raw materials, i.e., all of his innovative ideas with Sabian and their Special Efx Cymbals and Hoop Crashers, etc.??? What is happening here --- He's completely contradicting his own ideology which he's been expounding upon ad infinitum ever since he decided to learn how to play his acoustic drumset as though it was a drum machine the D.J.'s used for Hip-Hop, Electronica, Jungle, Drum & Bass, Samplers, Reverse -Engineering, Dub Music , etc. Everything that made him such an important innovator and unique drummer was just flushed down the toilet with that one sound . All of his self--bravado comes up to the surface as he makes a mockery of himself as well as his words. He's become an adult contemporary smoothe jazz drummer. . . This is such a loss for the drum community. WAKE UP JOJO MAYER!
@FaresX20237 жыл бұрын
You might really mislistening to the video at all ... It's not Jojo clap, it's the keyboard! watch the previous Ep and you'll see that the clap sound did not even reach the mic.
@FaresX20237 жыл бұрын
If you look closer behond the Hi-Hat you'll see the clap in the top of the splash.
@EleniEliades_7 жыл бұрын
+DNA Hyzhma : YOU are not listening and watching. I have already spoken to a band member in a different post where you can see I am correct concerning the electronic clap sound Jojo is now using. He said that, yes, Jojo IS using it. Personally, I think it sounds cheap. He is such an amazing drummer without the use of electronic effects don't you agree? Watch a few other current videos of him and his band Nerve playing and you can see him hitting a horizontal cylinder attached to the efx cymbal he designed with Sabian. Please do not take my comments in a negative way towards you, I am just clarifying the facts and answering your comments. Do you also play drums?
@FaresX20237 жыл бұрын
Don't worry! i don't get angry because of oppinions and preferences. I was lucky i've seen Nerve on England live. and yeah his ideal about reproducing sounds with accoustics too i've seen it on TEDx. But what i think that maybe and i personally take Jojo Mayer as my ideal drummer for that! I'm even trying to reach his level but with my own style and i can say it's hard and difficult as steel! Maybe he's using that clap for secondary purpose, I don't think he would really get into premade sounds tis easy after 40 years of playing on his own way.
