I had some smoooth picks, drilled a few tiny holes in them for better grip, then realized I never want a smooth pick again & now avoid them at all cost .......... I too removed my pot from the same place, it was too close to the strings, no good. Not sure why manufacturers think the knob needs to be ThTA close to the string.
