Kid Icarus is a platform video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Family Computer Disk System in Japan and the Nintendo Entertainment System in Europe and North America. It was released in Japan in December 1986, in Europe in February 1987, and in North America in July.
The plot of Kid Icarus revolves around protagonist Pit's quest for three sacred treasures, which he must equip to rescue the Greek-inspired fantasy world Angel Land and its ruler, the goddess Palutena. The player controls Pit through platform areas while fighting monsters and collecting items. The objective is to reach the end of the levels, and to find and defeat boss monsters that guard the three treasures.
In the longplay I show the necessary actions to achieve the very best ending that is exclusive to this version, since the JP release on FDS lacks of it and replaces it with a very worst one that I included in that video. Basically the requirements are: full strength/endurance, 999 hearts and having all three upgrades for your character. Attached after credits are the other endings.

The hardest part of Kid Icarus is understanding early on in the game that elixers restore health and hearts act as currency to buy hammers, weapon upgrades, and more elixers.

I remember my mom letting me buy my first NES game after of course the Mario/Duckhung pack in game for the console and it was either this game or Metroido. I chose Metroido because I thought the box art looked cooler with a bounty hunter with a gun on the cover than this Angel looking kid. Maybe a month later I ended up Renting Kid Liquorice and thought it was a cool game and only took me like 2-3 days to beat verses Metroido took like months! lol

This was one of those games you bought and regretted it 5 min later after playing and dying constantly.

I could only make it to the second or third stage. The only way I could see the end of the game was to use a password I found in a magazine, which sent you to the final level with maxed out stats and equipment. The game still left a positive impression on me, though. The whole concept was very interesting and different.

@@Gencoil The main problem with this game is there was no way of knowing you had to kill enemies before entering the level up room . i would be willing to bet 99% of the kids that bought this game entered the empty room w/o knowing this. This game was a _Nintendo Power Get a Subscription_ game basicly. Or a reason to pay nintendo for the magazine.
