Yeah I was scared too, it brought me nightmares when I've seen it, I wonder if any kid now gets those feelings if they play this game, the fear in the first cutscene (well it wasn't the good part if you ask me)or the excitement we had for this game back to these days... Whatever computers could't create back to these days, our imagination could...if you know what I mean. Im feeling lucky that I was born this times, there are many things that kids now won't come accross because they have their fancy 1080p games now...

Thank you so much for sharing this -- due to the popuarlity of the SNES Batman returns game, this (arguably superior) game is seriously underappreciated online. Most 'History of Batman game' lists miss out on this one. Thanks for posting this! My whole childhood prior to the release of the adv. of batman & robin on SEGA was spent on this.
@MythopoeicNavid7 жыл бұрын
alxxpspqr That's a very good observation regarding the TMNT 2 engine -- and you're right the graphics alone suggest that. I am a fan of the music though, the rather foreboding and cold theme perhaps resonates with my earliest memories too much to suggest a forgotten world, haha. I remeber the NES and SNES versions as well, not too fan of Return of the Joker but they all prove one thing; The awesomeness of the Batman video-game franchise!
@MythopoeicNavid7 жыл бұрын
alxxpspqr Well the critical success of later Batman games do qualify it as 'awesome.' As for a forgotten world, haha yes perhaps I could've phrased it better -- but what I meant was that its music was very evocative of the Batman Returns movie. Thanks!

It was a lot of fun in a nice afternoon. Shamefully, I don't know where my PS1 is; I lost it like 10 years ago. Maybe my parents sold it to give me my next console wich was a XBOX 360.

I'm with ya there. The SNES game, like many others, have that 'underwater' sound. So everything blends in and gets bland quickly. Whereas the NES had some catchy beats. Plus, doesn't hurt I'm nostalgic as crap to the nes version. Then with how hard the bosses are, that boss music always brought fear to me. Nothing compares to the Mega CD version music though xD
@tatsumaru123457 жыл бұрын
alxxpspqr A low pass filter wouldn't typically increase the quality in sound. All that does, is cut off higher frequencies you don't want played. So say you don't have a tweeter on your speaker, its good to cut off with a low pass filter around 12khz or so. I'll agree though! All those games have great soundtracks. But they all also have this 'underwater' disctinct sound to them too. Some games like mario world don't have it at all. Others like batman returns, I dunno. It drives me nuts nowadays xD May not bother anyone else

I was like "wtf, the same things were in the game" :D And this is what I love about NES games based on movies, they didn't change the plot, for me it was great to play Batman, Robocop, Terminator, etc and then to look for similiarities and references

Not a bad game. It feels sort of reminiscent of a Double Dragon adventure. I especially thought the arcade-style shooter level added a unique flair to this. However, the game only seemed to cover about 3/4 the story, which is surprising. At the time the game was released, a typical NES game was capable of providing more detail, that an additional level or two shouldn't have been difficult. There was no follow up to Catwoman's or Max's character, which made this game feel incomplete.

I would definitely recommend a good music score like this kind yet a real symphony orchestra could get inspired by something just like this and a true Batman movie in Live-action will have to feature good music like from this video game yet any composer could conduct this beautiful music and make it sound so real to craft a lot of perfection that will go to making a true motion picture score that will fit in the soundtrack for real
