I can't even imagine how easy this game must feel to those who grew up playing _The Adventures of Bayou Billy_. I mean, just look at the driving stages for example! The roads are wider, the jeep controls *much* better, you don't die in one hit and you could even get gas cans to increase the amount of time to complete the stage, which is a lot more than the American version to begin with. Just... What the heck?

Meant to bring fake difficulty to the United States version. Strange because most times U.S. versions are made EASIER, not harder.

This was the case until rental stores became popular. After that many video game companies increased the difficulty so that they couldn't be rented and easily beaten in one sitting. So yeah, their fix to give you more game time was to make it unfair instead of you know.. adding more levels or something! Bah..

I just downloaded this on my NES classic..i grew up playing Bayou Billy...i can get to the second driving part...i made it to the 2 final bosses on my second game (3 players)....its a much easier to control game and the driving sequences are wayyyy easier/better...

I had heard rumors about this version being so easy but I wanted to see with my own eyes...wow! I never got past the first driving stage as a kid on Bayou Billy!

Konami were a bunch of masochists in the late 80s/early 90s. just look at Contra Hard Corps

Also, The driving in the US version is far more aggressive and faster, there's even a risk of accidentally driving off the road. This version looks very much like what I'd call a sunday drive. Plus I do believe the small progress map is missing.

1:16 lol imagine that scenario in real life. Bird arrives, you punch the bird’s soul, it falls to the ground where it disintegrates.

Sadly the gangster Gordon, doesn't laugh in the between stage cutscenes. Instead he just smiles, like he does in the US version, but no laugh sound sample plays.

One of the few rare times that the Japanese version of a game is easier than the US version.

5 years late but on average, a lot of Japanese NES games were easier than the US version. Ninja Gaiden, Castlevania, Battletoads, Shatterhand, Double Dragon...the only exceptions to this that I know of are Mega Man 2 (which still had the original difficulty available) and Super Mario Bros 3.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle II (NES) Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle 1 (Famicom) That game also had changes, Japanese is easy and the USA version is more difficult ...

This game is so much more player friendly than Bayou Billy...I like them both, but i can beat this one, and its just a smoother game to maneuver..

Is it just me, or do the driving sequences look different in this version? I recalled that the US version just had the Time, Lives, and ??? km/h displayed, and there was no black HUD.

The speed in the US was measured in MPH, there were less gas cans on the road and no silver bulletproof car you had to avoid.

Mad City is a much better game....the controls are a bit smoother and the enemies arent nearly most impossibly hard...i can get pretty far in Bayou Billy but its more like a test than playing a game for fun, whereas Mad City is more enjoyable...

WTF? Stage 3 is too easy compared to Ballou Billy and Final Boss, very easy in this version

Was Gordon touching Annabelle's breast? How come this was not edited? We are talking about a pre-ESRB game here. If there were a remake of Mad City (Bayou Billy) it would be M-rated because of such a suggestive theme. On top of that, Gordon was smoking on each cutscene, and Billy and Annabelle kissed each other in the end. This game deserves a remake... in a third-person view to play this game's modes more easily.

There are games that do not need to be remade into 3D or anything, they are fine the way they are. People complain about movies rehashing old ideas a lot, games don't really need to suffer the same fate.
