Quite an enjoyable game that feels like a sequel to Top Gun and Top Gun:Second Mission.
They seemed to finally fix all the things wrong with the others and give you a great experience, great music, and overall fun gameplay. -

I can't believe this is the first I'm ever seeing of this Konami game on the NES. Man, Konami sure did put out a LOT of militaristic-themed action games on the NES in it heyday.

just as how Adventures of Bayou Billy was an attempt to mix Double Dragon, Operation Wolf, and Road Blasters. Laser Invasion ended up mixing the gameplay of the Top Gun games (with some elements taken from Sega's Thunder Blade), Operation Wolf once again, and the maze gameplay of Golgo 13's Top Secret Episode and The Mafat Conspiracy.

did you notice this game used sound effects from Top Gun: The Second Mission? And the sound of shooting a heart in Operation Wolf mode is just like on Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest.

@Matthew Rivera: Also, the enemies in the gyrocopters were previously in _Snake's Revenge_ , _Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2: The Arcade Game_ , and its original arcade version, _TMNT 1989_ , albeit replaced by Foot Soldier enemies.

@@TheRichFather: The "selection" and "confirmation" sound effects were taken from another 1991 Konami game released on the Famicom (the Japanese name of the NES) called _Lagrange Point_ .

A very underappreciated gem of a game. It did all of it's elements as good as an NES could handle (though it doesnt hold up as well without a working Zapper). I rented this thing weekly for what seemed like a year and loved it.

I was addicted to this game and I returned to it often. It wasn't easy either, which made it very addicting due to the constant challenges. At the time I had no idea Top Gun existed for NES. So this was my go-to staple of choice when I wanted to challenge myself to a survival game for both ground and air combat. Even going back to this now I would really like to see games that are just like this; like Crysis but with aircraft in addition to ground combat. A bad-ass pilot who knows his way around aircraft and can survive like a boss. I always liked this concept better than Metal Gear as well.

It is a 'Top Gun The Second Mission + Contra', in Gameplay and also in Audio - Sounds. ...I mean: AMAZING! Konami has earned the 'The King of Gaming' Award (NES & SNES, in my opinion XD), because of their History.

I passed up renting this game as a kid because I assumed the game wouldn't work without the LaserScope, which the rental didn't include. Too bad, not only because it works without it, but because it's a cross between several other games I enjoyed.

It’s graphically a great game with good controls, but what i found weird is, if i plug in the zapper and set it to zapper in options menu, i will get no response out of it during gameplay, but if i set it to laserscope, i will get response out of it but then at sessions i cannot use the zapper anymore so i have to use the controller instead despites being set in laserscope, Even more weirder is, i have to use both the controller & zapper at the same time for stearing and shooting. Mmm.
