Based on the John Davidson version (My favorite!) which ran from 1986 to 1989. The boxart was from a photo that was taken during the Pilot tapings (December 12, 1985).

And for those of you who don't know, there were actually three hosts (or "Masters of the Hollywood Squares") during the three incarnations: Peter Marshall was the best known of the three, having hosted from 1966-81, John Davidson from 1986-89 and Tom Bergeron from 1998-2004. All three are the best HS hosts ever!

If I remember, on the John Davidson version of this Show, if you find the Secret Square, a Bell will ring.

The Marshall open went like this: "One of these stars is sitting in the secret square and the contestant who picks it first could win a prize package worth over $8,000! Which star is it? (cue The Hollywood Bowl) John Davidson, Angie Dickinson, Larry Hagman, Marty Allen, Phyllis Diller, Sorrell Booke, Tom Bosley, Ted Lange or Paul Lynde? All in The Hollywood Squares! And here's the master of The Hollywood Squares, Peter Marshall!"

There was an older longplay, but that one was two players. This one is just a single player.

And before it was acquired by Microsoft in 2002 and the Stamper family, which had ran the company since its founding in 1982 as Ultimate Play the Game, left the company years later.

All these bible questions, I wonder how they got past NOA (since they are notorious for demanding the removal of religious references at the time).

Rare was really close with Nintendo, so they were able to get a way with a lot. Look at the NES game they did called Taboo: The Sixth Sense; a tarot game which features naked people and hanging. Also, look at Conker's Bad Fur day.

To be fair, Nintendo of America had the wrong idea of what family-friendly means back in the late 80's to early 2000's. I get that Nintendo of America wasn't used to make Japanese gaming to Americans when they first opened, but it was a stupid idea from whomever parents to tell Nintendo to censor out so much content because of that stupid-ass excuse of the negative influence it would put on children. And also, the censoring of third-party Japanese games was a dumb idea since kids would enjoy Japanese gaming and anime. Whoever came up with that idea is a foolish person. Kids in the 80's and 1990's deserved better. Look how far we've come!
