I remember playing this game 25 years ago, it took awhile but I eventually managed to complete it sometime between 1996-2000. I sometimes replay it on emulator even though I still have the physical game and the NES to this day, they are currently in the attic. I also remember trying to get this to work with the game genie with no luck, however I later found out that there were 2 versions of the game. I know that this version was the one I owned and completed as it was stored on a black cartridge with two holes on the back, which was incompatible with the Game Genie unlike the other version that had codes listed in the book for it. The old memories of these nostalgia games. The Nintendo Switch should make an emulator version of this XD (Possible in theory and on a hacked Switch) I also remember this game for it's night time approach which now turns up in many video games like Fortnite, Animal Crossing, Mysims, The Sims, Twilight Princess just to name a few. This was an amazing achievement for it's time as 99% of games at the time never had this.

It wasn’t until Internet became accessible that I learned about this version of Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy. I have the gold cartridge with 100 stars. Each version have qualities that make it easier than the other. If Dizzy walked this fast in the gold cart, it would make escaping obstacles easier, but it feels more daunting to have to collect 150 more stars in this version. I do envy this version for having wrench to work all the lifts in the Diamond Mine. I hated having to get all of the jewels to flash at once.

@@Romy--- Pure trial and error. In order to know where a specific path lead you basically had to blindly try it and remember everything. @@Romy--- If you think about it, many things about this game are frustrating. Loud, high pitched sound and music, memory issues (if you left too many items on one screen, some could disappear), backtracking (the whole game being a maze wasn't helpful), star hunting, trial and error design (including few placed that player can become stuck). And still, for some reason, I played a lot of Dizzy when I was young, never finishing it (no saves, all these issues, the game took many hours for someone not knowing how to finish it).

No, but seriously, those snare traps are pure "Oh, that's BULLSHIT" material. An instant-kill hazard that isn't obviously dangerous (like the spiders) until you test it? I mean, that white line looks like a graphics bug. You aren't even sure if you can interact with it until you get killed by it for the first time! Oh, and one of them is IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CHARACTERS' EWOK TREE TOWN. Why is it in the first area, when you're just learning the controls and dealing with the spiders? I was just six years old when I tried to play this game. I liked it, but I never got very far. Getting killed by the snare annoyed me enough to make me resent that trap to this very day.
