watched this through and went from struggling to complete 19-0 once to being able to consistently clear 19-1 in the span of like an hour. thank you for explaining it so easily! my main oversight was i thought i had to keep charging das constantly, and had no idea you conserve it during the 6 frame reset window. thank you thank you thank you!!!

Great plugin! The ability to use lua scripts to write plugins for games is such a great feature of FCEUX (I couldn't imagine writing this as a romhack/mod in 6502 assembly).

Very nice vid and good effort, I wish I had found it earlier. One issue I had when trying the script was at times I feel like i was shamed for making adjustments and for tapping once to move a piece one column to the side. But that might just be a bad habit I have, im not sure.

This is really cool. How do you use your plugins with an emulator?
@TomLokovic4 жыл бұрын
They're designed for the fceux emulator, running a Tetris ROM. When it's running, you can go to File->Lua->New Lua Script Window, and then choose the plugin. Or just drag-and-drop the plugin onto the fceux window.

Awesome explanation! At what speed did you start practicing DAS?
@TomLokovic4 жыл бұрын
In terms of practicing, I found levels 9 and 12 useful for getting a feel for DAS. I can't play reliably at level 18 but once I started to get a feel for DAS I found it useful to play level 18 now and then, even though it went badly, just so I could focus on how DAS feels there.

Nice vid. So players dont press down to make the piece drop faster?
@TomLokovic3 жыл бұрын
From what I can tell, advanced players (which I am *not*) generally never press down, because they only play at higher levels where the piece is falling so quickly that there's no reason to rush its descent. I've seen footage of tournament players pushing down as a sort of joke, when they're not taking things seriously.

@Peat0304 жыл бұрын
@@TomLokovici will but whats memory map?
@TomLokovic4 жыл бұрын
@@Peat030 The lua script works by reading (in the fceux emulator) from specific memory locations that Tetris uses to represent specific values. If the PAL version of Tetris uses the same memory locations to represent the same values as the NTSC version, then the same lua script should work for both. But if the PAL version uses different memory locations to represent the state then the lua script won't work for it.
