Thank you so much for posting these videos. They have been very helpful to my understanding of Operating Systems as I am enrolled in an online college class and there is virtually no live demonstrations. You are the reason I am passing this class!

When you write a program, you write it in high level languages, and then the compiler will compile your code into binary. In order to run it, the OS will load it to memory. And when it is executing, we call it a process. So a process is a program in execution. A program can have many processes. A thread is a unit of execution of a process. One process can have one or multiple threads.

Thread: A thread is a light weight process 1.thread share same memory of process 2.Termination of thread does not effect other thread 3.Termination of process will effect the threads to terminate

It helped to understand the concept of process and thread in ever best way. A process is a program loaded in memory and is executing. While a thread is basica fundamental unit of execution of a process. With one single process, there may be quite large number of threads associated.

No need of process explorer.. The task manager has the Threads column hidden by default. Enable it to see threads.
