The final signal x(t) is not an odd signal HOWEVER it has an odd component and therefore bn is not equal to zero. The Fourier expansion expression indicates that the signal is composed of 3 components; the average (a0), the even (an term), and the odd (bn term) signals. Imagine removing the average value a0 from the final signal x(t). Since a0=1/2, this means we shift x(t) down with the amplitude of 1/2. With the new waveform, we are theoretically left with the even and odd components if they exist. In our example the new waveform is odd but not even. Edit: Moving forward, it's explained in 162. video: Symmetricities in FS Part 2, under the "hidden symmetry" concept.

I think it is an odd function... It is explained wrongly... If we perform time reversal and amplitude reversal we get the same function... So its odd.

There is a mistake. cosine of 2*pi*n is not simply 1. If n is odd then then it is -1 and if n is even then it is 1.

No. The condition you said is correct for cosine of pi * n. cos(2 * pi * 1) means cos(360) = 1, cos(2 * pi * 2) means cos(720) = 1, cos(2 * pi *3) means cos(1080) = 1

if we consider a0=0 we get an odd signal which is described by the sine part, now if we add a0=0.5 we would get the required signal (another way to visualize : "if by shifting the signal along y-axis if we get an odd or an even signal the argument an=0 or bn=0 respectively is still true"). so the condition was if x(-t)=-x(t) an=0 not the other way round.

In any case, your sawtooth waveform will be a straight line from one point to another, right? . A Sawtooth waveform only looks complicated, actually it is a simple straight line between two points . so just use them as your (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) and form a line equation. the resulting line equation , after a final substitution of x with t , will result in an equation that you can work with. you can use that equation for any kind of analysis in that problem.
