We look at some potential problems associated with the Atelier Nespresso machine to see if we can test and demonstrate them, especially with the milk frother. Find out if this coffee machine really can make iced coffee, mocha and hot chocolate?
In the video we make a flat white with the Atelier. We also made a latte macchiato, cappuccino, iced frappe and mocha in a recent video. We show you the frothed milk settings and how the Atelier heats the milk. Find out too if the Atelier machine makes a hot coffee when we do a heat test. Most importantly we also ask, does the coffee taste good?
There are 3 different coffee settings available on the machine. These are a lungo, espresso and ristretto coffee setting.

A great honest review, I recently gave my vertuo machine to my daughter because again the coffee flavours didn’t suit my taste. I had looked at this machine but will stick with my smaller espresso machines, for the money the Krups represents great value. Right off to find your podcasts! 🤠

Glad it was helpful. Sure I'd get the knack of it eventually but find those buttons don't always register the first time you press them, so doing it twice in a second is a bit of a roulette 😂

So far so good. While I acknowledge issue with cups (not every cup works with this machine), I got easy-to-use coffee machine which saves me around $7 each morning plus time. Does it taste like a cappuccino from best coffee-shops in the area? It doesn't. But better than in many places around. Is it tasty enough to enjoy it with breakfast? Absolutely. The foam is decent and the taste is consistent. It takes 1 minute to make an ice-latte which is far better than in most coffee-shops. And mocha is very nice, as well as hot chocolate. We love our Nespresso Atelier :) But for many people it can be a disappointment.

Hello Adam, thanks for your great and honest reviews. And thanks to your wife for the brilliant camera work! What I mean to ask you, at the end of the video you say you can’t recommend the machine too much. Is that based on the price alone? Or do other machines for instance froth the milk better or have more settings? My Krups U + Milk is slowly dying after 5 happy years so I’m researching which machine to buy next (again, your channel is awesome!). I only use it to make Latte Macchiato for myself and the occasional espresso for guests. What I value most is; Ease of cleaning Not too many machines on the counter top One machine that does most of the work for you I don’t mind the higher price of this machine if it would take out the hassle for me, but you not recommending it has me worried. Do other machines make better coffees? Or does the Atelier do a fine job at a bit of a steep price?

Hi there. Thanks for that and glad you like the videos. Personally I just couldn't recommend the Atelier as I didn't like the froth it created and I'm also not sure how the whisk would stand up over time either. Plus the drinks weren't really hot enough. From all you've said, my gut says the Creatista Plus might work well for you. It's quite a compact machine (you can see it vs the others on our Top 5 Nespresso Machines video) is easy to clean, just wipe the steam wand down and a quick wash of the milk jug (no spring) and your done. Alternatively perhaps a citiz and milk might work too. I know it may feel a little boring to go for another 'and milk' machine but the last one I had lasted 5+ years like your U + milk did, so nice to know you get value for money. The Creatista Plus is pricey and a bit noisy too, but it does make a very hot coffee and I really like the texture of the milk from the steam wand. You also have lots of different froth levels and milk temperature settings to choose from, but I guess how you like your froth comes down to personal taste. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for another great review. I was waiting for this one, as it seemed like a great machine (on paper) but after your video of the unboxing and 4 drinks attempt, I think not. Will stay with my old but fantastic Maestria and get a Barista for chocolate and cold milk drinks.Will wait till offers on Barista as its still a bit ££££. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Thanks. I think this one was from John Lewis if I remember right. Looks like it's priced at £299 now too. From what I could see on the website the items had to be unused to return them but maybe I should have checked if they would've taken it. I have returned a machine to Nespresso before but there was a fault with it, so not 100% sure if you just don't like it. Would be worth giving them a ring beforehand if you do decide to try the machine.

Hello! I have an Inissia machine and an aeroccino 3. When I saw the Atelier machine I thought it would be a good upgrade do make my foamy drinks - especially because I would only have to wash a little thing. Do you think I’m good with what I have? Should I upgrade? Can the atelier machine be used with regular size mugs? Thanks!

Hi there. Personally I wasn't a fan of the Atelier and if it were me I'd stick with what you have. The mug question is a good one too as - while you can use your own mug or glass - the size of mug they recommend you use is quite strict.

I've switched from a Vertuo to this Atelier as I felt like the original machines would be better for me. I honestly have to say this machine is such a faff! Easy to set up, easy to pour basic coffees, but anything that requires the milk frother is hard work. And like the video shows, the majority of the time you can put the right amount of milk and everything in, use the correct cup, and it will still overflow! It's noisy even to pour a basic coffee. I'm up for work in the very early hours of the morning and if my girlfriend stays over I've had to stop making my morning coffee you can hear the machine in the bedroom. I love a Mocha as a treat, every time it whisks the milk and chocolate it sounds like it's going to explode. Then they recommend to melt the chocolate beforehand, which is another task on top of everything else when the machine is supposed to do it for you? I try to follow the recipe for the Ice cream coffees, means I have to get my scales out and measure the cup upon adding the ice cream. And yesterday even when I got the right measurement, my kitchen ended up covered in ice cream and milk 🤦🏻‍♂️ Definitely not worth £350. I should have gotten an original machine and maybe the Barista maker. I've just booked it in for repair to see if they can do anything. But I'm not going to lie, I regret buying this machine.

Hi Jack, sadly I totally agree. I didn't even get around to trying the ice cream coffees as ended up just selling it on. From what you've described an essenza mini, aeroccino for everday use and Barista Maker for chocolate based drinks and iced recipes may be a good setup if you can get a decent offer on them. The essenza mini is really quiet and is a nice cheap intro machine to see how you get on with the original coffee. I love the citiz myself but it is a little louder than the mini (we did a video where we measured how noisy the machines are) and the creatistas are fantastic but again, they can be quite loud with the steam wand. The barista recipe maker can also be quite loud, which is why it might be good to have an aeroccino too for morning use as they're pretty quiet. Hope this helps a bit but know it's more money to spend 🙄 Don't know if returning your atelier might be an option.

A2B Productions Yeah I think the Essennza Mini’s are lovely little machines. Had one in a hotel room a few months ago and really did the job spot on! I’ve been looking at the Lattissima series but even they look a pain to clean. I don’t mind the noise later on in the day, especially for recipes, it’s just the fact the Atelier vibrates really loudly even for a basic coffee. The noise on the others you’ve mentioned probably wouldn’t bother me as much as I don’t make many recipes first thing on a morning. But even during the day on the Atelier the whisk is so loud, like you said in your video it’s like it’s going to fall off 😂 Didn’t think I’d get anywhere sending it off for repair but I’ll try my luck 🤞🏻 Only had it two months but if not I think I’ll sell it elsewhere and replace it. Just put it down to experience I guess

Yeah we've reviewed the Gran Lattissima and that's not too bad as the frother is fairly big and you can put it in the fridge, so you only have to wash it out every couple of days. It is still faffy to wash out though if doing it by hand though - we don't have a dishwasher - and it was also a very loud machine even when not using the frother. You'll have to let us know what combo you end up getting 👍

A2B Productions the loan machine Nespresso are lending me is a Pixie, and I was missing my cappuccinos so yesterday I bought the Barista maker and I have to say this is 100X better than the Atelier! It’s quiet, the cappuccinos taste a lot nicer and not as sickly and watered down. So I am definitely going to take your advice when I get my machine back, downgrade to one of the smaller machines and stick with the Barista maker! 👌🏻

It just feels like a thrown together machine, what should we have it do?? Oh yes this and this. Not for me. Just a side note I might have mentioned it before but you can make hot chocolate in the Aeroccino. You have to do it slowly and carefully but it can be done. It’s amazing. I use chocolate chips, leave the lid off, set the milk to go and once it’s a bit warm slowly, I mean slowly, add the chocolate chips. If you don’t do it slowly you dislodge the whisk. But adding just a few at a time to the warm milk it’s perfect. I do about 30g of chocolate chips. You could also use grated chocolate. Obviously I don’t know what doing this does to the machine long term, but if you are wanting a daily hot chocolate, go for a more suitable machine, but for just the occasional one, this is perfect.

I was just about to buy it before I saw your review. Now I’m confused. For me, it’s important that it’s a small machine and that it can make coffee with milk. Which one would you recommend? PS: I‘ve had the Gran Lattissima but it was horrible. It just didn’t do the drinks as they were supposed to be.

Depends what you mean by small machine but from what you've said I'd probably be looking at a Creatista Plus. We have a video on the channel where we put it up against the Gran Lattissima I think.

Wanted to like its coffee so bad, as it's the only compatible with Starbucks capsules here in Italy, but...While it delivers an overall acceptable "international" style coffee (best capsules: "Sumatra" and "Verona"), it unfortunately fails miserably when it comes to yielding a more "Italian" tasting espresso...It's a keeper, but wouldn't recommend it, if one's after a more Italian experience. I honestly thought it could handle both with different capsules ("international" and "Italian"), but I'm afraid it doesn't do that for me. However, any suggestions?

I came into the Nespresso world in the pandemic around 2020, I had never heard of this machine until tonight when someone made a new review about it, they seemed to act like it was the most amazing thing since the invention of the wheel (I feel they were paid to say all that) so I looked you up, and sure enough you had a review about it.. and yours as always is honest and to the point, that machine I think was a flop and that's why I never heard of it until today 🤣

Hi sir, I'm planning to buy my first nespresso machine but currently torn between Atelier or Essenza Mini + Aerocinno. I am a milk-based coffee person where my morning routine would be getting a capuccino or latte besides my breakfast so, can you recommend which one is the best for a beginner like me? At first, I want to just go with Essenza Mini + Aeroccino but when I looked into some reviews mostly was complaining about the Aeroccino technical issues so it became a concern for me thus, why I decided to go with Atelier instead since it's more easier as the machine have multiple milk-coffee recipe.

Hi 👋 I always worry answering these questions as everyone has slightly different requirements 😅 What I can say is it’s very rare that I’ve had technical problems with my aeroccino4 or aeroccino3 and would recommend them for a beginner. Do take care with the spring when cleaning but if a problem has ever arisen then Nespresso are usually very good when a machine or frother is in warranty and will usually repair or replace any parts if needed. My personal thoughts are that for a beginner an Essenza Mini and Aeroccino will be fine (I’d recommend the aeroccino 4 so that you don’t have to remove the spring when you want a latte and also you can put it in the dishwasher too) Do check out our other videos and reviews on those items though, as they should hopefully help you with coming to a good decision 😊👍🏼

Hi there. That's a tough question as they all have their pros and cons 😅 I haven't tried the Essenza Plus as it's not available in the UK so for me it would be between the Pixie and the Essenza Mini. When it comes to those two machines I feel the Pixie has a more solid build and may last longer but it's very loud, whereas the mini is really quiet but might not last quite as long (no proof of longevity, it's just a gut feeling). If you haven't seen them yet we have a video where we compare the Essenza Mini vs Pixie vs Citiz and also a 'Top 5 Nespresso machines video' which may help you to decide. Hope there's some useful information in those videos for you. Would be great to hear what you decide too 👍

@@A2BProductions Thanks for the reply! I ended up getting the Plus because Pixie was out of stock where I live. Assume it may be due to the Suez Canal obstruction last month. The reason why I didn’t choose the Mini was simple. The height didn’t allow me to put my quite tall glass cup I’d be using to make my iced lattes. The plus offers a slightly higher position of the nozzle, allowing me to use the cup. It also helped that the plus looked sturdier in design and less toy-like. Hope this adds to your vast knowledge of Nespresso machines!

I had a vertuo machine and just returned it. The coffee gave me severe stomach pain. I do like watching how all the machines work but doubt I will ever purchase another machine.

Yeah we're not great fans of the Vertuo coffee to be honest, find them too bitter most of the time. There are a couple of capsules I like but not many. Maybe try and get hold of a cheap essenza mini when it's on offer and see if you find the original pods any better.

It seems that your machine has a temperature problem. I had the Atelier for a few days and the milk based drinks were much more hotter than from the creatista. The drinks were so hot that I had to wait two or three minutes before I was able to drink the cappuccino. You should do the temperature measurement again with another atelier.
