I listened to Nest at a very young age. Their music was describing greatly the image of Finland in my mind. I grew up loving kantele and these images and asthe years flew by, Finland felt like home. Now that the situation is getting back to normal I have to visit Finland. Explore the country while listening to this kind of music. Bring my soul to it's Dreamland.

That's great to hear. It is very humbling that our music has had such an effect on your existence. If you make it to Finland, I heartily recommend you visit the more interesting places in nature here. Lapland is a great choise, of course. If you're traveling to cities, Nuuksio near Helsinki is great, as is Isojärvi near Tampere. Just search for national parks in Finland and you'll find plenty of astounding places.

Sorry about my late reply. I'm overjoyed to hear that my humble explorations in music and instrument building have inspired you to try your hand in building a kantele. I hope it goes well. I love building these things. It's a pleasant marriage between art and engineering, where I get to design something functional as well as express creativity in shaping the instrument. I'm actually currently designing a completely new model that has 18 strings and a bunch of other new ideas. I'll reveal it when I get around to finishing it and seeing how well it turns out.

Disease was rife, murder rates were ridiculously high, ignorance reigned, slavery, forest banditry was an actual daily hazard, extreme minority of people could even read etc., you could be branded a witch just for having certain wild plants grow in your yard. Most people ate the slop they could scrounge up as opposed to having choices of food, hunting in the king's forest could be punished by beheading etc. That doesn't sound like something I'd miss.

Thank you very much for the comments. It is both touching and intriguing to learn how my humble music and performance has an impact on the lives of others. These performances are special acoustic arrangements of the more full bodied versions that you can find on the albums. Those have a plethora of other elements in the form of multiple synths, shaman drums, vocalizations, etc. It's interesting you noticed Nest at the Dungeon Synth forum on Facebook. Dungeon Synth Zine recently did an in-depth interview with me, and it is coming out on the latest issue #6. I also hope you noticed that you can download these performances for free from Nest's Bandcamp: nestfin.bandcamp.com/ Cheers.

Many yrs ago, I used to date a guy who father was a carpenter & who also crafted/played dulcimers. He made the small ones & the larger hammer ones, but those probably sound too folky for this type of music, lol.
