I faced some issues when i used category = CategorySerializer() in BookSerializer the solution was to keep category updation and creation independent : i did this by the following : In Book Serializer instead of category = CategorySerializer() i used category = CategorySerializer(read_only = True)

I would suggest use nested serializer only with retrieve request, otherwise nested serializers can affect your api performance e.g. if you use nested serializer with list request you will see it would be taking long time to fetch the data, bonus advise always read comments of a video, in last awesome tuts bro

when i created nested serializer i am getting this error -->>>>>>AssertionError: ("Creating a ModelSerializer without either the 'fields' attribute or the 'exclude' attribute has been deprecated since 3.3.0, and is now disallowed. Add an explicit fields = '__all__' to the CategorySerializer serializer.", could you plz help me in this?

i haven't understand why are we using depth bcoz the result is same when we use it or not

if we use depth , we will get entire category object (like when fields = __all__) even if the category serializer has fields = ['catergory_name'] this serializer wont be used and entire object will be returned. If you want to have only particular field of category object in Book Response, add that field in category serializer fields eg ['catergory_name'] and then use category = CategorySerializer() without depth
