About how many days to mature seed from when you plant the basal plate? Thanks for sharing!

We plant the basal plate in March, depending on the weather, and harvest seed in late July/early August here in western New York, Zone 5 :)

Fist time gardener here. I planted shallots last year and now I have these beautiful shallots growing. I did noticed a garlic scape-like branch growing. What is that and what should I do with it? Thanks!

I don'n get it? ...you say you " select for ones that store longer" yet you use the exact bulb that was sprouted? Was that for demonstation?

No the one had stims growing out of it not the other one it will keep longer.
