I translated it into English. Evening shower Suga Shikao That afternoon and into the sunset, a light evening shower passed by And we ran on the wet asphalt near the sea. In the shade of a crumbling, ticklish rental warehouse I looked up at the sky for a while to ward off the rain. Suddenly you're chirping I'm listening A melody I don't remember With a voice so small it's already fading away Eventually, it breaks up. On the way back to Tokyo, there was a terrible traffic jam. What did we talk about? You probably don't even remember what we talked about. The radio played a sad news about a stranger and a boring ballad about someone else. Suddenly you whispered to me A song I don't know I'm always trying to talk to you I always try to speak to you, but when I look for the words Whenever I try to speak to you, I always find the words, but they are always lost. Suddenly you're chirping I'm listening I can't remember the melody And what I lose What I can protect Just a little difference... Suddenly you're singing I'm listening A melody I can't remember With a voice so small it's already fading away Soon it will be cut off.

not "ticklish", "dark" I would also suggest "suddenly you start humming and I listen to you/a melody I've never heard/your voice so quiet it could fade away" "you probably don't even remember what we talked about EITHER" I don't know if I would go as far as say "a ballad about someone else", I'd just say "a ballad by someone (I don't know)" "(at that time in the car) I tried many times to say something, but when I would look for the words I'd just stop myself" "things we lose and things we couldn't protect are not all that different"

@@Gustavomazu Excellent suggestion. Closer to the original lyrics than my English translation.
I remember watching Boogiepop when I was eleven and this music was the main reason why I kept watching it even though I didn't understand much of it. I still love it and listen to it almost every week on Spotify.

@@insertname7032 It's one of those that require multiple views. It was also weird enough to inspire Monogatari series author and Baccano!/Durarara author in terms of storytelling.
