It’s not a full ship. Only the front is real. The back half is basically just wood framing and scaffolding. The actual insides of Baratie and of most of the ships will likely be on indoor sets. This argument of trusting adaptations because "it's made by fans" is pretty stupid; a lot of bad movies and TV shows were produced "by fans", so saying you're a fan of the source material is not a strong argument anymore if we still see the factors that will make a product bad even before release i.e., this being produced by Netflix and the same producers of Netflix Bebop.
@charlesacker91742 жыл бұрын
@@joeywheelercabrosky528 oh the script leak of the pilot was exceptionally good. Like I don't think anyone in the One Piece fandom outside that author could have written a better first episode. It starts off with Smoker at Gol D. Rogers execution and that's brilliant because the bookend of Season 1 will be Smoker seeing Luffy at the execution platform. Other changes include Ussop being the narrator voice. Which is a brilliant idea, Ussop would be the one telling the story of Monkey D. Luffy becoming pirate king and writing a tale about his adventures. Final brilliant idea? Zoro is introduced by killing the original Mr. 7 of Baroque works. That won't even pay off till at least season 2, but establishing Zoro is a killer that early is brilliant..
@gabeortiz6322 жыл бұрын
Yes, the director being a fan doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll be a good adaptation, but at the same time, we wouldn’t want the series to be made solely by corporate big wigs. That would be like saying the show was made with 100% studio interference. While not a guarantee of quality, I’d still give the show a fair chance, to see how it turns out. And like Geoff said, if One piece live action cannot pull it off, I’d say there’s no hope for ANY future adaptations.

I´m totally ok if they give up the weird proportions and just use regular people with makeup. Some characters can just be people in makeup and forced perspective but the long leg and long arm tribes exist, things like the weird failed attempts to recreate giants out of humans need to look like that, Franky's bowling ball shoulder replacements are a practical part of his design, and you can't replicate those movements with an outfit because his arms are physically further away from his body. I think it needs to get wackier with designs to acclimatise the viewers to that anyways, so they might as well lean in.
@Jj_27232 жыл бұрын
I’m not okay with that. That’s literally the essence of one piece. Their world is not ours. That’s what makes it so wonderful. If they don’t get those “wacky” aspects of the world of one piece, they’re going to seriously destroy their chances of success of making that story

I think the key to a successful adapation is going to require a bit of compromise on the part of the fans in that the adaptation of OP doesn't need to be quite as grand as Oda's version. No matter how successful this show is, it's never going to be able to go as long and hard as Oda's story. So they shouldn't even try. Streamlining the story to a more digestible narrative might actually allow for a sensible arc. But if fans are going to be butthurt every time they cut some side plot or extra detail, they're going to smother the series before it even begins. To me, getting the heart of the show right is a lot more important than making sure every plot detail makes it to the screen. There IS a lot from the manga/anime that can be cut to create a more streamlined adventure while still retaining the essence of the show.
